Job Summary

The Field Placement Coordinator within the School of Education (SOE) will work with schools and/or school districts to arrange formal field-based placements for undergraduate and graduate teacher candidates in alignment with SOE pedagogy courses to meet state teacher certification requirements. The coordinator will provide supportive resources and services needed to stabilize and improve the candidates' eventual chances of securing a career in teaching or a related career. The coordinator will also support Title II, CAEP, and other reporting needs.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate field placement appointments for undergraduate & graduate Teacher Education candidates in the SOE Teacher Certification Program, including early field experiences through full-time student teaching
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Field Placements to schedule and coordinate meetings for a variety of orientation sessions for student teachers, mentors, and supervisors regarding field placement policies and requirements
  • Initiating, tracking, reviewing, and monitoring status of undergraduate and graduate placements and all associated paperwork including request letters, forms, and notification letters
  • Work with a variety of off-campus units, including schools and school districts around the world, but primarily in the US, to arrange field experiences/observations and student teaching placements, and as well as various departments of the university to best support students
  • Work with Assistant Director of Field Placements in visiting PK-12 schools and other educational agencies to meet regularly with school administrators, particularly urban and high needs districts, to develop and maintain relationships that will increase high quality placement opportunities and foster vibrant partnerships
  • Maintain the Field Placement Office’s databases and assist the Assistant Director and Program Director with required reporting

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-2 years’ experience in job placement, job development, personnel administration, or a related field required
  • Must be a customer service focused team player that is able to work in a fast-paced office environment
  • Strong knowledge of Internet, Microsoft Office, and related technology is required
  • The candidate will also possess excellent communication skills and great attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in a communications, education, or related field
  • Experience with Banner, Hyperion, and Anthology/Chalk & Wire
