Job Overview:

The Director provides administrative leadership to extend the value of scholarly publications, shareable research data and archival collections. Leads collaborations to design, acquire and improve effective systems, licenses, and advisory services to ensure access to authoritative scholarly resources. As a member of the Libraries strategic leadership team reporting to the Dean of Libraries, responsible for shaping and evolving the Libraries directions and resource allocations as a partner in the intellectual life of the University.

Essential Functions:

Provide administrative leadership to strengthen Drexel's connections to scholarship through a matrixed organization and supervision of three program managers focused on scholarly publications, research data management guidance, and archival stewardship.

Lead collaborations among staff, faculty, administrators, and researchers to design and improve systems, licenses and advisory service support to ensure access to authoritative scholarly resources.

Serve as member of strategic leadership team to help shape and evolve the Libraries' strategic directions and resource allocations.

Make decisions in absence of Dean about the daily management of the Libraries.

Required Education: Master's Degree.

Required Major/Discipline: Library, Information science or related field.

Required Experience: A minimum of 5 years.

Other Requirements: (Licenses, Certifications, Systems Knowledge, etc.):

Demonstrated familiarity of trends/practices with research data management and curation, digital records management, scholarly research and the publishing industry.

Management experience including supervision and program management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in higher education or research information organizations.

Supervisory experience.

Physical Demands:

Typically sitting at a desk/table.
