Job Summary

The Web Developer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating University websites as part of the marketing group in the Office of University Communications.  They will report to the Associate Director of Web Development

Essential Functions

  • Execute user experience web design principles including information architecture, visual interface design, responsive design, accessibility compliance (Section 508, WCAG 2.0), web analytics, SEO best practices, and writing for the web.
    Maintain the University’s branding guidelines and web standards; assist with graphic design as needed for web purposes; and provide direction for web-related photography, video, and interactive design.
  • Review and edit content in adherence to editorial style guidelines; and collaborate with website stakeholders to develop a concise message. 
    Make web edits and updates to any sites maintained by University Communications, and any other websites assigned to the department.
  • Create new websites within the Sitecore content management system.
  • Work collaboratively and creatively with (non-technical) communication providers/content owners and members of the communications team in the creation and maintenance of websites, while adhering to University web standards.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in IST, Media Arts and Design, Computer Science or equivalent is required.
  • The position requires proficiency in HTML, CSS, and Photoshop; familiarity with JavaScript and jQuery; and the ability to quickly learn the Sitecore content management system.
  • Candidates must have the ability to flourish in a fast-paced professional work environment while maintaining an attention to detail; be able to diplomatically communicate with clients effectively through email and in person; and the ability to work independently and on concurrent multiple projects is essential.

Preferred Qualifications                                  

  • Candidates with experience using Sitecore CMS and Microsoft SharePoint are preferred.
