Job Summary

The Director, Graduate Program in Nutrition and Dietetics is a full-time, 12-month faculty member who has 25% protected time for the responsibilities associated with the ACEND-accredited Graduate Program in Nutrition and Dietetics. 

The Director, Graduate Program in Nutrition and Dietetics demonstrates strong leadership skills, communicates effectively with the Department Head, Nutrition Programs Director, faculty, accrediting body (ACEND), and staff, fosters collaboration, manages multiple tasks, and solves problems as needed. As a faculty member the person in this position will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and a creating an inclusive learning environment for all students. Full-time faculty in the College of Nursing and Health Professions are also expected to remain active in scholarship related to their clinical practice or other area of expertise.

Reports to: Chair, Department of Nutrition Sciences

Essential Functions

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the Program Director Nutrition and Dietetics Responsibilities include:
Maintaining, communicating, and advocating for a clear and progressive vision of the Nutrition and Dietetics program.
Development of policies and procedures for effectively managing all components of the program and to ensure fair, equitable and considerate treatment of prospective and enrolled students (such as program admission, retention, and completion policies). Student recruitment, advisement, evaluation, and counseling.
Maintenance of program accreditation including:
a. Timely submission of fees, reports, and requests for major program changes.
b. Maintenance of the program’s student records, including student advising plans, supervised experiential learning hours and verification statements.
c. Maintenance of complaints about the program received from students or others, including disposition of the complaint.
d. On-going review of program’s curriculum to meet the accreditation standards.
e. Communication and coordination with program faculty, preceptors and others involved with the program and its students.
f. Facilitation of processes for continuous program evaluation; and
g. Timely submission of required documentation supporting the graduate's eligibility for a Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) credentialing exam.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience
  • Be credentialed as a registered dietitian nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration

Preferred Qualifications

- PhD or Doctorate, Nutrition or related field

- Earned doctoral degree or equivalent and have a minimum of three years professional experience post-credentialing OR earned master’s degree or equivalent and have a minimum of five years professional experience post-credentialing.

- Teaching experience at the graduate and undergraduate levels preferred
