Job Summary
We are looking for a research assistant to work in the ACE and EXCEL Labs at Drexel University’s Department of Counseling and Family Therapy. The labs follow distinct lines of research, but frequently collaborate on projects as well. The ACE lab investigates the role of parenting in the development of social intelligence and emotion competence in children, while the EXCEL lab focuses on family-centered prevention, treatment, and recovery support for women with substance use disorders and their families. Shared interests of the labs center around examination of race- and gender-related discrimination and stress on families, parenting, and health outcomes, as well as therapist training and development.
The position will be based in Philadelphia, at Drexel University’s Department of Counseling and Family Therapy. This position is well suited for someone who is looking to gain research experience for graduate programs in psychology, family therapy, and related fields.
Essential Functions
Creating surveys, cleaning and analyzing data, management of databases, recruiting and communicating with study participants, conducting qualitative assessments, working with the IRB to approve new studies and amend preexisting projects, managing volunteers in the lab, and helping with grants and manuscripts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- A minimum of 1 year experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Background and interest in clinical research, research experience in an academic or mental health setting is preferred
- Good interpersonal skills, proficiency with survey platforms (REDCap & Qualtrics), data cleaning, analysis, and management (SPSS), organizational skills

Additional Information
This is a temporary part-time, non-exempt hourly paid position that will be paid bi-weekly, and does not qualify for benefits.
This position is supported fully or partially by external funds; continuation of employment is contingent on receipt of those external funds.
