Job Summary

Support lab research through scientific investigations and analyses

Essential Functions

  • The Senior Research Scientist will conduct analyze data, prepare journal paper manuscripts, run models, perform statistical analyses, troubleshoot sensors, and otherwise support of the Sustainable Water Resource Engineering Lab.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or Doctorate in Engineering, environmental science, applied geology, or other such field
  • At least three (3) years of professional work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some experience working in a university or laboratory research setting
  • Strong interest in smart growth, low impact development, green infrastructure, urban sustainability, climate change adaptation and related fields
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to be self-directed and independently manage time, budgets, and expectations.
  • Experience with a wide range of sensors, including sensors from Campbell Scientific, Hobo, Stevens, and similar vendors
  • Advanced computer programming skills in languages such as Matlab, Python, SQL Server
  • Comfort managing big data sets, with ability to program in R, Python, Matlab, or other similar language
  • Machine learning skills a plus
  • Ability to apply parametric and nonparametric statistical tests to various data sets
