Job Summary

Drexel University seeks to fill a teaching faculty and Director of Psychological Services Center (PSC) position within the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor level, effective Fall 2023. We are searching for a collaborative faculty member with teaching experience in undergraduate and graduate psychology. The successful candidate will serve as a core member of the psychology faculty and is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and provide clinical supervision to a team of doctoral students. The successful applicant will also direct the PSC, the Department’s in-house training clinic. The clinic provides assessment and psychotherapy to members of the greater Philadelphia community, using a low-cost sliding-scale fee system. The PSC provides evidence-based CBT-informed training and services for a wide range of psychological disorders, including specialized programs in adult mood/anxiety/trauma, behavioral medicine, child and adolescent services, forensic psychology, assessment, and the Mother Baby Connections intensive outpatient program. Students currently enrolled in the Drexel Clinical Psychology Ph.D. and JD/Ph.D. program provide direct clinical services under the close supervision of licensed Psychologists. The Drexel PSC is a member of the Association of Psychology Training Clinics.

 

Essential Functions

  • Teaching psychology courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Supervising clinic staff.
  • Overseeing the selection and use of clinic technology (e.g., practice management software, recording equipment, telehealth platforms).
  • Maintaining the security of private health information
  • Providing general clinical coverage, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with referring agencies
  • Awareness of and ensuring compliance with legal and ethical codes of practice and training regulations.
  • Supervising graduate students delivering therapy services in the PSC.
  • Serving on committees at the department, college, and university levels.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a PhD Or Doctrate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA (American Psychological Association) accredited college or university, completion of an APA-accredited internship.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience.
  • Must possess a current clinical license in their current state jurisdiction of practice. Must be license eligible in Pennsylvania at time of hire, licensed by the State of Pennsylvania within 6 months of hire date, and must maintain a license.
  • Must be legally able to work in the United States (as relevant for the position)
  • Must pass background checks and obtain requisite child abuse clearances.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision.
  • Experience providing and/or supervising teletherapy.
  • Currently have an active license as a Psychologist in the United States.
  • Candidates must be competent with clinical supervision of graduate students seeing adult clients and using empirically supported assessment and psychotherapy approaches.
  • Experience in mental health service provision with underrepresented and minoritized populations.
  • Interest and involvement in efforts to integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion issues in training and/or service delivery.
  • Experience in program implementation and development.
  • Administrative experience in a psychology training clinic or outpatient mental health center.
