Job Summary

The College of Nursing and Health Professions is looking for a Social Media Specialist to drive the vision, strategic imperatives, and content strategy across all our social media channels through the lens of equity, inclusion and belonging. This individual will lead, manage and measure all social media initiatives, and will serve as the manager of the department’s annual social media strategy. By mapping out a monthly guide for how, where and when we have conversations, this individual will create content both planned and in real time. Understanding how to organize data into insights that tell a story is an essential aspect of this role.

Responsible for all content development and marketing initiatives across the College’s social media channels, this position is important in advancing brand awareness, advising on reputation management and leveraging industry best practices. To this position, a successful candidate will bring good judgement, flexibility and a data-driven approach and will operate with kindness and the knowledge that the College stands on the tenets of social justice and health equity. This position will also be responsible for some departmental project management.

This critical position within the College will coordinate with the Director of Marketing and Communications at the College and University Marketing and Communications to maintain compliance with university policies and procedures and will advise the CNHP community of these requirements as needed.

Essential Functions

Social Media Strategy:

  • Lead social media strategy, including social channel and audience growth strategies.
  • Manage creative development for social media campaigns.
  • Use audience insights and analytic tools to inform social media strategy.
  • Leverage ongoing research on best practices to ensure content is relevant.

Social Media Management and Execution:

  • Manage, develop, write and produce social media content for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube.
  • Manage audience engagement, including setting the schedule with team for after-hours monitoring and response.
  • Collaborate with Marcom team to create an effective social media calendar.
  • Attend events on campus to capture content for social media channels. This may include after-hours events.
  • Measure and monitor channels, reporting out quarterly and annually. Communicate issues and successes in a timely manner.
  • Analyze effectiveness of digital campaigns and offer solutions to improve based on research and analysis. Follow up and report-out on the evolving social media strategy within the digital environment.

Project Management (15%):

  • Manage Marcom inbox, create project boards and timelines and assign tasks per project requirements.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in Communications, marketing, digital media, journalism or related field
  • 3+ Years Experience
  • Experience with Sprout Social, Monday.com, Office 365 and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Social media photography and video production.
  • Knowledge of social media ads.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exceptional writing skills and proven ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Motivated self-starter who can take initiative and use independent judgement.
  • Experience planning and managing social media content.
  • Experience driving social media strategy, monitoring analytics and adjusting future plans based on performance.
  • Experience communicating best practices.
  • The ability to meet deadlines while managing competing priorities.
  • Ability to establish effective and cooperative work relationships, individually and on project teams.
  • Strong customer-service skills and willingness to help others.
