Job Summary

The Assistant Director for Student Engagement, Involvement, and Leadership is responsible for creating and implementing student opportunities, and programs focused on supporting personal development and understanding leadership identity. The Assistant Director will design and assess leadership development programming consistent with the University and Student Life missions and focused on supporting the diversity of students that comprise Drexel University.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate and co-facilitate workshops, seminars, retreats, and leadership programming, for current students and student leaders.
  • Develop and expand leadership development education, resources, training, and award recognition for student leaders, student organizations, and the general student body.
  • Lead assessment of learning outcomes for all leadership training topics in partnership with the Director of Student Engagement, Involvement, and Leadership Coordinate the development, revision, promotion, and distribution of leadership-related marketing, educational, and informational publications for students on campus.
  • Support benchmark and trend data collection for opportunities to improve or enhance leadership development offerings.
  • Collaborate with campus partners and key stakeholders to expand leadership development and across campus.
  • In partnership with the Director of Student Engagement, Involvement, and Leadership, identify and develop peer-to-peer leadership development and engagement opportunities.
  • Serve as an advisor for 1-2 designated student organizations.
  • Responsible for tracking event finances and maintaining budget for Student Organization Leadership Development.
  • Support department social media platforms and digital engagement initiatives, including developing and implementing a social media communications strategy.
  • Oversee the annual review and revision process of the Student Leadership Empowerment Guide.
  • Support the creation and development of student engagement reports and data.
  • Represent Student Life at Open Houses and/or Admitted Students Day events.
  • Serve as a member of a Student Life Committee.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience developing and implementing co-curricular programs for traditional and non-traditional students in post-secondary education.
  • Proven leadership ability.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication, facilitation, and organization skills.
  • Understanding of the needs of student leaders and student organizations.
  • Ability to commit to working with a diverse student population.
  • Ability to commit to social justice and belongingness principles.
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Web, graphic design, and technological skills.
  • Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or related field or equivalent work experience.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt with a grade of J, salary range $47,490 - $71,230. The offered rate is dependent upon internal equity and the successful candidate’s competencies, education, and experience.
