Job Summary

The Grant Administrator provides sponsored program oversight and administration from the pre-award proposal stage through award acceptance and post-award non-financial functions.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains a portfolio of Drexel departments, advising and assisting associated faculty and departmental staff in assembling and submitting diverse grant proposals to governmental and non-governmental sponsors, ensuring institutional and sponsor compliance. Issues and oversees the execution of incoming and outgoing federally funded subawards. Oversees the negotiation and execution of incoming and outgoing non-federally funded subawards and incoming sponsored research agreements. Sets up new awards in Drexel's systems.
  • Maintain a portfolio of departments and assist associated faculty with proposal preparation and submission to obtain external funding for research and other sponsored programs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and expertise in federal, state, local and other agency regulations, and policies to assure compliance with Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200, various governmental agency and other sponsor regulations and institutional policies.
  • Provide audit agencies, public and private sponsors, principal investigators, project directors and staff, department administrators and other customers with accurate information and guidance in accordance with the above-mentioned compliance elements.
  • Oversee the accurate preparation of detailed budgets for grant applications and renewals. Ensure that all project costs are accounted for in proposed budgets, including University cost sharing or other third-party cost sharing.
  • Function as point-of-contact administrative liaison between sponsors, University Finance and other University administrative departments, and principal investors, project directors and staff to enable and facilitate all matters related to sponsored program proposals.
  • Review final grant application proposals for accuracy, completeness and adherence to university and sponsor guidelines including all required assurances; submit proposals to sponsors.
  • Prepare monthly FFATA reports based upon issued subcontracts as needed.
  • Develop and present training sessions related to research administration for investigators and administrative staff.
  • Become familiar with the responsibilities of all functional areas of the Office of Research and Innovation and cross-train within the office to provide seamless support to customers and uninterrupted coverage when a team member is out of the office.
  • Set up awards in Drexel's award module.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
  • 3 years of Relevant Experience
  • Experience in sponsored program administration, preferably at an institution of higher education and in central or department administration office, office of sponsored programs, office of research administration, university or medical center setting, or federal grant-making agency.
  • Strong computer knowledge of basic information systems (Word, Excel, Adobe, and other database applications) and web applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Certified Research Administrator or Certified Pre-Award Research Administrator
  • Prior experience in higher education/academic research institution
  • Working knowledge of federal uniform administrative requirements
  • Experience with federal sponsors including NIH/NSF
  • Project budget preparation
  • Post-award financial management and pre-award compliance

This position is classified as Exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from $54,630 - $81,940.  Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
