Job Summary

The Assistant Director for Graduate Recruitment serves as a primary contact for prospective students and their families, advisors, and other individuals and organizations involved in the college selection process at the graduate level. Key responsibilities include all aspects of the graduate school recruitment process: helping to identify prospects, managing the application funnel, generating applications from leads, and internal and external relationship management throughout the entire application cycle, across multiple departments at the University. The Assistant Director interacts with prospective students and their families during individual meetings, information sessions and campus events (both in person and virtually) to build relationships, answer questions, and explain the benefits of a Drexel University graduate education. The Assistant Director counsels accepted students through the enrollment process to facilitate a smooth transition to Drexel. The Assistant Director is responsible for recruiting prospective students both nationally and internationally through attendance at and travel to college fairs, conferences, professional organization events, community events, employer partner-organizations and virtual fairs within a designated program vertical. Part of the assistant director’s portfolio will include Drexel University’s Accelerated Nursing Program (ACE), with an expectation to host on campus and virtual information sessions throughout the recruitment season, which may include evening and weekend work hours.

The Assistant Director also serves as the primary contact for an individual college within a programmatic vertical and will work closely with their campus partners reviewing programing, communications, and recruiting strategies for their specific, assigned college and/ or vertical. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in recruitment events which may include evening and weekend hours, and as needed provide support for large-scale events University events.

Essential Functions

Recruitment/Travel and Events:

  • Perform booking, logistics, and execution of travel domestically to college fairs and other Admissions-related events throughout the year. International events may be offered as well.
  • Speak with prospective students about Drexel's Graduate programs.
  • Answer questions and provide contacts. Gather prospective student leads for follow up.
  • Attendance at Drexel University events held on our campus or virtually, which includes presenting, answering student questions, and coordinating the events themselves with our Marketing Team and Drexel faculty.

Customer service:

  • Meet with prospective students on campus, via phone, or virtually to share information about Drexel's Graduate programming. Answer questions and provide contact information when necessary.
  • Manage personal and Team email inquiries and be available on phone during office hours.
  • Expectation of 48-72 hour response time to direct inquiries.

College liaison:

  • Work directly with a specific program or programs as Admissions liaison.
  • Meet bi-weekly (or more ad-hoc) with department contacts to share information and work through ongoing projects.
  • Manage programmatic updates/changes, which includes managing edits to Web content, print materials, PowerPoint presentations, our Application, and other areas where program information is displayed to prospective students.

Student meetings:

  • Allot time and post availability online for one-on-one virtual student meetings throughout the work week.
  • Expectation of 2-3 hours of marketed student meeting availability per week.

Delivery of decision materials:

  • Review application materials for content, completeness, and quality for a specific program or set of programs. Candidate should be skilled with attention to detail.
  • Review transcripts for prerequisite coursework per department guidelines.
  • Make and communicate application admissions decisions per departmental guidelines.
  • Review and update Admission materials as department liaison.
  • Complete review within communicated timelines Contribution to graduate team projects:
  • Candidate will pick an area of interest within Graduate Admissions and participate in a Team committee.
  • Timely work on group project assignments with attention to deadlines.
  • Coordination with other campus stakeholders on team projects.

Coordination point with University Marketing and Communications and other key offices:

  • Meet ad hoc with other offices that affect our work, including marketing, operations, technical support, and other areas within and potentially outside of Enrollment Management and Student Success.
  • Work through ongoing projects with attention to deadlines and needs of other stakeholders.
  • Share information from students about our internal processes with these groups to impact the student experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience in student recruitment within higher education and/or healthcare.
  • Experience using a CRM such as Slate or Salesforce.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 - $ 71,230. per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
