Job Summary

The Manager of Marketing and Fan Engagement for Drexel Athletics is responsible for assisting the Senior Associate and Assistant Athletic Directors for External Relations in all aspects of the marketing, promotions and fan engagement of Drexel Athletics. The position will also work in conjunction with the Coordinator of Ticketing and Business Development with the outreach, execution, and confirmation of group sales to ticketed events across the academic year.

Essential Functions

  • Create and lead promotional efforts of weekly marketing collateral around campus and promotional calendar all sports.
  • Serve as main liaison of the external relations team to Daskalakis Athletic Center (DAC) Pack and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
  • Provide opinion and leadership on Team Dragon events.
  • Responsible for athletic marketing, promotions, and social media with focus on specific sports.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the yearly marketing and promotions plan.
  • Create new strategies to increase attendance at home sporting events.
  • Lead Mascot program including recruiting, training and scheduling Mascot Appearances for Mario the Magnificent, and overseeing Mario’s social media platforms.
  • Assist with Spirit Teams (Cheer, Dance and Pep Band).
  • Fulfill Donation requests.
  • Coordinate or assist in special events such as golf outings, School days, Banquets, fundraisers or department functions.
  • Assist in the game-day duties which include setting up, training and assigning student staff, reconciling transactions and calling the attendance.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service to all season ticket holders and fans.
  • Troubleshoot possible problems at the DAC and Vidas Field on game days.
  • Assist the marketing and sales of tickets when hosting special events; i.e. CAA Tournaments, NCAA Tournaments, etc.
  • Develop internal/campus relationships through promotions, events and gameday recognition opportunities i.e: alumni relations, student life, residential living, Greek life, etc.
  • Develop marketing plan to increase student attendance at Basketball games (and other ticketed sports) and Drexel pride.
  • Act as an Advisor for DAC Pack to help increase student excitement and attendance at home basketball games and excitement around Drexel Basketball among the study body.
  • Coordinate Welcome Week activities to build excitement and awareness around Drexel Athletics to incoming students with Student Life and Recreation.
  • Oversee Basketball (and other ticketed sports) game day promotions, cheer and dance, and overall fan engagement.
  • Supervise External Relations Co-op on a daily and term basis which includes goal setting, schedule management and evaluation.
  • Coordinate and execute group sales/attendance at events and develop promotions for specific group attendees to engage at a high level, including half-time and post-game opportunities. 
  • Oversee marketing social media sponsorship activation in conjunction with Multimedia Rights Partner.
  • Confirm contract agreements are met while maintaining high quality of content and product. Coordinate this plan with creative services and sports information liaisons.
  • Create content for digital platforms when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Director of Athletics, External Relations.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the  Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in the athletics and/or entertainment space.
  • Strong communications skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Experience with Instagram, X, Facebook.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Marketing or sales experience.
  • Experience working in an athletic department in marketing/tickets and/or experience as an NCAA student-athlete.
  • Experience with targeted social media and search advertising campaigns.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Familiarity with D1 Men's and Women's Basketball.

This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 - $71,230 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
