Job Summary

The research manager will work with Principal Investigator Dr. Ayden Scheim in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics to manage a four-year project funded by the National Institutes on Minority Health and Health Disparities, “Measures of structural stigmatization and discrimination for HIV research with Latine sexual and gender minorities” (R01MD020284). The overarching goal of the project is to develop, validate, and apply measures of state-level structural stigmatization and discrimination for Latino/a/e and sexual and gender minority populations. The research manager will be responsible for overseeing administrative, scientific, and dissemination aspects of the project.

The Manager must be available to work during business hours in Eastern time but can arrange to work remotely up to 100% of the time. This position is contingent upon grant funding.

Essential Functions

  • Project Management:
    • Develop and oversee project timelines and workplans.
    • Track progress and engage in frequent communication with the research team and external partners to ensure project milestones are met.
    • Organize team meetings.
    • Assist with hiring and supervision of graduate research assistants.
    • Coordinate data sharing and agreements with external collaborators and vendors.
    • Work with the business manager to track spending.
    • Prepare progress reports and other grant-related activities and communications.
  • Data Collection and Management:
    • Coordinate and oversee two systematic reviews.
    • Assist with development and management of IRB protocols.
    • Manage survey programming, recruitment, and qualitative and quantitative data analysis for an online modified Delphi study.
    • Coordinate and oversee data collection from legal, policy, and public opinion datasets.
    • Prepare quantitative datasets for analysis using statistical software packages.
    • Develop data management and analysis protocols in collaboration with epidemiologists and biostatisticians.
  • Dissemination:
    • Develop an interactive database of systematic review results.
    • Assist with the development and submission conference abstracts and manuscripts for peer reviewed publications.
    • Organize dissemination events.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Epidemiology, public health, or a quantitative social science field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. 
  • Minimum of at least two years of experience as a research manager.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in at least one statistical software package (preferably SAS or R)
  • Experience with Qualtrics and/or REDCap
  • Experience conducting systematic reviews and/or working with legal and policy databases
  • Experience developing data dashboards and/or visualizations
  • Training and/or experience in research on health equity; racism, stigma, and discrimination; Latino/a/e health, and/or LGBTQ health
  • Spanish language proficiency

This position is classified as Exempt, grade L. Compensation for this grade ranges from $ 62,630.00 to $ 93,950.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
