Suspension of Drexel University's Contribution into 403(b) Retirement Plan

As communicated on Oct. 10, Drexel University is suspending its contributions to employee retirement plans for calendar year 2025 as part of its multi-year plan to build financial resilience. Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced research interviewer to conduct telephone interviews with family caregivers of people living with dementia and other related research tasks as part of a National Institute on Aging (NIA) funded study, Plans4Care. The Plans4Care Study is evaluating a web-app that offers dementia education and tailored strategies to manage dementia-related care challenges (Principal Investigator: Dr. Laura N. Gitlin). The research interviewer will work closely with the Project Manager and be trained to screen, obtain informed consent, and conduct baseline and follow-up interviews with caregiver study participants over the telephone. The research interviewer will use REDCap to enter data, assign caregivers to either an immediate or delayed treatment group, and instruct caregivers in onboarding on the web-app. Also, in this position, the research interviewer will conduct select literature reviews, work with the Project Manager to clean data, and other related research tasks as assigned. This position is remote and per diem.

Essential Functions

Interview tasks:

  • Develop rapport with study participants
  • Explain study and its procedures to potential participants
  • Schedule study appointments using Airtable, Outlook Calendar, and REDCap
  • Perform informed consent, screenings, and interview procedures with caregivers via telephone
  • Follow all study IRB approved protocols and procedures

Data capture and analytic tasks:

  • Collect, validate, and organize data using REDCap checking for completeness, legibility, fidelity, and accuracy
  • Identify and address missing or questionable data
  • Follow all study IRB approved protocols and procedures

Communications:

  • Communicate with Project Manager and Principal Investigator about schedule changes and all study related issues including coding, missing data, identification of adverse events among other key concerns.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and participate in debriefings

Miscellaneous:

  • Collaborate with teammates and work with staff on a weekly basis
  • Conduct literature reviews as assigned by Project Manager and/or PI
  • Conduct data cleaning tasks as assigned by Project Manager and/or PI
  • Perform other research related activities and additional tasks as assigned by Project Manager and/or PI

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Health-related field including health professions, psychology, counseling, etc.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience. 
  • At least 1 year of research experience that involves collecting human subjects data in person or telephone
  • Experience working with older adults, people living with dementia, and/or family caregivers highly preferred
  • A background working in clinical research or academic scientific research environment desirable
  • Experience with REDCap or equivalent data management system (Airtable, BOX, Outlook, Microsoft Word, Vonage Business, VMware Horizon)
  • Completion and ongoing renewal of required human subjects training, including CITI, HIPAA, Good Clinical Practice, etc. as required by both Drexel University IRB and Federal grant funding; or willing to obtain certifications before start of employment

  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends, based on study participant availability

  • Detail-oriented, excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to follow detailed research protocols
  • Must have demonstrated excellent customer service skills both on the phone and in person
  • Manage responsibilities in both independent and team settings
  • Discovery of relevant content and critical thinking
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Must be able to interact effectively with study participants and coworkers from diverse backgrounds

Additional Information

This is a Part-Time per diem position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
