Suspension of Drexel University's Contribution into 403(b) Retirement Plan

As communicated on Oct. 10, Drexel University is suspending its contributions to employee retirement plans for calendar year 2025 as part of its multi-year plan to build financial resilience. Job Summary

The Department of Biology anticipates hiring a full-time Teaching Faculty position at the Assistant Teaching Professor level (Non-Tenure Track) to teach undergraduate courses in biological sciences for the 2025-26 Academic Year. We are seeking an instructor with expertise in teaching in the following disciplines: Cell/Mol Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Developmental Biology, or Physiology.

The faculty position is expected to develop both introductory and upper-level courses in their area of expertise. Assigned courses could include both lecture and lab offerings. Successful applicants are expected to develop and deliver a variety of courses both at the introductory level for both majors and non-majors, as well as upper-level courses in their area of expertise for STEM majors. Supervision and training of graduate teaching fellows assigned to courses is required. In addition, successful applicants will be expected to be active in service activities within the department and/or college.

This position is a 9-month appointment with the possibility for renewal. Opportunities for summer teaching for additional pay may also be available.

This position has a preferred start date of September 1, 2025, but flexibility to start January 1, 2026.

Essential Functions

  • Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate coursework, including supervision and training of graduate teaching fellows assigned to courses.
  • Service to the Department and College.
  • Develop both introductory and upper-level courses in their area of expertise.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or Doctorate degree in Biological Sciences or related discipline (ABD will not be considered).
  • Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with others in the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices to promote active learning and problem-solving.
