Suspension of Drexel University's Contribution into 403(b) Retirement Plan

As communicated on Oct. 10, Drexel University is suspending its contributions to employee retirement plans for calendar year 2025 as part of its multi-year plan to build financial resilience. Job Summary

The Department Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring continuous operational success within the Department of Health Administration, completing initiatives that help to propel department growth, increase efficiency, and impact faculty and students.

The ideal candidate for this role is innovative, process-oriented, and exhibits creativity in proposing and welcoming new strategies, programming, and activities to advance the department and the populations it serves. This role supports the Department Head, assisting with the department’s budget, human resources, and scheduling, implementing strategies and processes to increase productivity.

The Department Coordinator serves as an essential resource to faculty, staff, and students, representing Health Administration in college-wide operational initiatives and facilitating day-to-day functions of the department. The role works closely with, and under the direction of, the Department Head and interacts across various college and administrative units.

Essential Functions

  • Assisting the Department Head with faculty workload, course assignments and external reporting. 
  • Participating in the annual budget process with the Department Head. 
  • Supporting the Department Head with curriculum changes for BS and MHA program due to curriculum review, work with university platforms needed to make changes and submission to the appropriate College committee. 
  • Submitting Health Administration course offerings and other curriculum changes for the academic year, annually, and updates/adjustments, term-by-term to Courseleaf, which is needed for academic review. This includes submitting and monitoring HSAD curricular changes via Courseleaf for all programs including BS-MHA Accelerated Program. 
  • Managing the storage of new syllabi for courses each term. 
  • Acting as a liaison with various university offices such as the University Registrar, Financial Aid, LeBow Finance and T&E offices.
  • Staying abreast and proficient in University-tied systemsthat include Banner, Blackboard Learn / Canvas, CLSS, CourseLeaf, Hyperion, SharePoint, Concur, Ariba, and PageUp. 
  • Managing and maintaining physical and electronic department-related records.
  • Communicating with the Department’s Advisory Council Members at the direction of the chair. 
  • Attending Advisory Council meetings, preparing and distributing minutes. 
  • Organizing and facilitating internal and external assessments. 
  • Monitoring department finances in conjunction with the Department Head, dispersing departmental funds as directed, and preparing financial reports including but not limited to; budget projections, monthly credit card reconciliation, and purchasing. 
  • Assisting the Department Head with hiring of all adjunct faculty and communication regarding adjunct teaching for all programs, including scheduling of onboarding requirements and preparing contracts for execution. 
  • Assisting Program Director of MHA program with Residency orientation and Residency (Spring and summer terms), including scheduling of rooms and reservations, catering, etc. 
  • Taking and distributing minutes of all departmental meetings.
  • Coordinating with the Physician Assistant department to facilitate the annual award of the Alpha Eta certificate to eligible Health Administration students – undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Maintaining departmental supplies, including ordering.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Department Head. Occasional weekend / night participation for events. 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED. 
  • Minimum of 1-3 years professional experience in higher education or similar operational support role. 
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office(s). 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 3 years of experience in higher education environment. 
  • Experience with LMS, Banner, Concur, Ariba and PageUp a plus. 
  • Familiar with Drexel University operations.

This position is classified as Exempt, grade I. Compensation for this grade ranges from $41,120.00 - $61,680.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
