Suspension of Drexel University's Contribution into 403(b) Retirement Plan

As communicated on Oct. 10, Drexel University is suspending its contributions to employee retirement plans for calendar year 2025 as part of its multi-year plan to build financial resilience. Drexel is continuing to monitor the situation and will share updates as they become available for calendar year 2026.

Job Summary

The Associate Director of Athletic Communications will have primary responsibility for content, navigation, appearance and maintenance of drexeldragons.com and social media platforms. This position will work with the website host and internal constituents to maximize website potential within the mission of the department. In addition, the Associate Director will be the primary contact for Men's Basketball and a number of sports as selected by the Assistant Athletics Director for Communications.

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Assistant Athletics Director for Communications with day-to-day operations of the Athletic Communications office.
  • Support the primary administrator of the drexeldragons.com website, working closely with Athletics staff to ensure accuracy, innovation and navigation of site.
  • Handle social media platforms for select Drexel sports, including posting content, interacting with followers, etc.
  • Provide support with administrative duties for sports, including writing press releases, running game day and press box operations, compiling team statistics and records, writing and designing media guides, coordinating interviews and assisting with other administrative duties. 
  • Responsible for nominating student-athletes for awards both within the conference and the area.
  • Serve as one of the two Assistant/Associate Media Relations Directors at any NCAA event Drexel hosts, such as the NCAA Lacrosse Championships, assisting with credentials, seating charts, direct oversite of student workers, etc.
  • Serve as the primary athletic communications contact for several of Drexel's intercollegiate athletic programs, including Men's Basketball and other assigned sports.
  • Work directly with the Assistant AD in coordinating credentials, programs, media requests and working at home games. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Communications or related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field (internships, co-ops, and externships will be considered).
  • Strong organizational and writing skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends several times a year to support events. 
  • Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters' Degree.
  • Experience using Facebook, Instagram, X, and Tiktok.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, Premier.
  • Experience working in athletics.
  • Working knowledge of the web and video editing and computer software applications such as StatCrew, NCA Genius, etc.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 - $71,230 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
