Job Summary

The College of Engineering and Computing has recently been formed from three colleges and schools at Drexel University to form the largest college at the University. The change will strengthen Drexel’s position as an innovator and technology leader in experiential education and in higher education. The Associate Director of Digital Content & Operations at Drexel University’s College of Engineering & Computing reports to the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications working on projects in support of the newly integrated college’s efforts in recruiting, branding, communications, and marketing using digital communications and marketing technology.

The associate director is responsible for marketing technology, project management, business analytics and the College website – covering web front-end updates, email deployment, and analysis of enrollment data /web analytics to assess performance and make recommendations for strategic initiatives. The AD takes an active role in understanding strategic objectives and proactively anticipating cross-functional dependencies of marketing technology.

The associate director leads the college in the use of digital communications technologies to support recruitment and retention of students, internal relations, and engagement with alumni, peer school and industry partners. The role works to raise the college’s profile, elevate the brand, communicate effectively and support the activities of the college and its departments.

Essential Functions

  • Website & Digital Properties Management:
    • Oversees the day-to-day functionality, support, content and maintenance of the College and associated schools’ website and related digital properties. With guidance from the Executive Director and leadership, manages and oversees the digital properties and related components of the university’s academic transformation initiatives.
    • Manages and creates WordPress for ancillary websites as needed.
    • Oversees the college digital signage system.
      • Works with teams to add items to slideshow on weekly basis.
    • Oversees College-wide events on the University web calendar and works with team to make efforts to ensure department information is current and regularly updated. Manages College use of payment services technology for select events. 
  • Technical Expertise & Development:
    • Uses expertise to make recommendations and improvements by incorporating deep expertise in user experience, search engine optimization and site architecture, while using university resources and complying with university and industry standards and web usability and accessibility guidelines.
      • Expert user of website content management systems with the ability to learn Sitecore CMS.
      • Expert proficiency with HTML, CSS and Javascript.
    • Prepares images, video and other content for use across all digital communications vehicles.
      • Skilled in using Adobe Creative suite or similar tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator to prepare supporting visual content.
    • Organizes and maintains asset library (photo and video) for the college and its departments. Oversight of creation and maintenance of a naming convention and tagging system. 
  • Data, Analytics & Reporting:
    • Uses Google Analytics and other related resources to monitor website activity, user interaction and to evaluate the impact of various recruiting initiatives and referral sources.
      • Distills into reporting for leadership with follow-up recommendations based on observations.
    • Provides reporting and insights to leadership through the creation of data visualization dashboards using a variety of data sources including Slate, Hyperion, GA4, Google Search Console, Google Ads, etc.
    • Ability to communicate and validate data flow between 3rd party marketing partners and University's data platforms to ensure initiatives are being tracked effectively. 
  • Collaboration & University Alignment:
    • Coordinate with University-level communications central web governing unit for updates, service requests or to obtain access and necessary permissions to make programming and technical changes as needed.
      • Represents the College in University-wide technology initiatives and committees.
    • Develops relationships with the College departments and helps to nurture a culture of collaboration.
    • Acts as a consultant, helps to maintain content accuracy and assists departments with their needs and objectives, while enforcing alignment with College and University branding. 
  • Communications & Content Management:
    • Works closely with the communications team to construct internal and external newsletters and communications.
    • Maintains contact lists, obtains approvals and cross-checks links.
    • Monitors effectiveness of emails through analyzing responses and testing.
    • Reviews and approves messages sent using University and college listservs.
      • Assures consistency of information across all digital platforms and seeks new ways to make improvements to processes and ensure accuracy.
    • Responsible for identifying gaps, performing quality review of requests and changes, and escalating issues appropriately.
      • High-level attention to detail: Reviews and edits content, quality checks before posting content or sending communications. 
  • Project & Workflow Management:
    • Skilled project manager with experience using tools to traffic work and ensures that projects are properly entered in the ticketing system.
    • Manages and monitors incoming requests for communications support and assigns work to team members as needed.
    • Oversees college marketing technology tools and accounts such as project management, video storage and streaming, email deployment and identifies other tools as needed.
  • Administrative & Support Functions:
    • Assists in onboarding of new employees by adding to all appropriate contact lists and groups.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in related to web services or analytics or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience. 
  • At least four years of demonstrated experience creating or managing digital content for web, email and enrollment analytics. 
  • Expert proficiency with managing a website using CMS required. 
  • Functional knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming.
  • A solid understanding of relational databases. 
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Demonstrated experience in with client services or departmental support role. 
  • Good editorial judgment and proofreading skills.
  • Experience working in a large complex environment.
  • Demonstrates initiative, is a self-starter and completes tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational, project management and planning skills, and the ability to successfully manage multiple projects and multi-task.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; a positive, collegial attitude; a high level of professionalism, self-starter, can work independently as well as collaboratively in a small team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Please provide a portfolio and/or links to examples of web sites and other assets that have been managed by the candidate.
  • Experience with Sitecore CMS preferred.
  • Proficiency with WordPress HTML and CSS and familiarity with Javascript preferred. 
  • Experience working in higher education a plus.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade L. Compensation for this grade ranges from $62,630.00 - $93,950.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
