Job Summary

The Industrial Hygienist will provide a safe campus environment, with a specific focus on OSHA compliance, occupational health and safety. This position supports operations on University City, Center City, Queen Lane, ANS, Camden, Elkins Park, West Reading, and other satellite campuses. They will develop and implement policies that reduce liability and protect human health and the environment.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct job safety audits and prepare Job Safety Analysis, training programs, safety equipment profiles and other related activities.
  • Manage the occupational health program including accident investigations, medical surveillance for research, clinical, and professional staff, and safety inspections.
  • Conduct Industrial Hygiene surveys, IAQ Investigations, and Ergonomic Assessments.
  • Identify, track and record OSHA violations and implement corrective actions and revised policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate engineering controls and abatement strategies necessary to protect human health and the environment.
  • Assist with training sessions providing Drexel personnel with current information on regulatory requirements relating to safety and environmental compliance.
  • Support all environmental compliance efforts as needed for the Department of Environmental Health and Radiation Safety including lab safety and hazardous waste removal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Environmental Health/Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or Safety or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience.

This position is classified as Exempt, grade L. Compensation for this grade ranges from $62,630.00 to $93,950.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
