Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, conducts and coordinates approved nutrition education programs in assigned Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) eligible schools in the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) and in eligible community sites to school-age and adult populations. Coordinates PA SNAP-Ed activities at assigned sites. Coordination includes: meeting with site staff, committees, and partners to assess, review and plan site wellness goals and interventions; planning, scheduling, and conducting direct education adhering to SNAP-Ed guidelines; seeks and participates in opportunities for policy, systems, and environment (PSE) interventions with the goal of positive behavioral changes for participants. Participates in report card conferences, health fairs, workshops and other allowable school and community events that support PSE initiatives. Participates in evaluation activities as assigned. Utilizes Microsoft applications. Responsible for scheduling and coordination of nutrition education and PSE activities within assigned areas of responsibility. Responsible for accurate and timely documentation and reporting of activities as required. PA criminal background check, FBI Clearance and child abuse clearance are required. Responsible to complete Occupational Health requirements. Must have valid driver's license and access to a reliable mode of transportation. Current ServSafe Manager Certification is a plus. This is a grant funded position which will end June 30, 2026.

This position is grant-funded; employment is contingent upon the continued availability of those funds.   

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates and conducts approved nutrition education programs in schools within the SDP and in eligible community sites to school-age and adult populations.
  • Implements lessons plans per SNAP-Ed guidelines. Seeks and participates in opportunities for PSE interventions in sites.
  • Participates in Report Card Conferences, Health Fairs, workshops and other school and community events.
  • Prepares materials necessary for execution of nutrition education sessions.
  • Reviews and revises educational materials as directed. Utilizes Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint in all facets of the job.
  • Assists in data collection and conducts evaluation activities as directed. 
  • Adheres to policies and procedures of Drexel University.
  • Maintains confidentiality of Drexel and SDP records, policies and procedures.
  • Maintains security of all Drexel and SDP property. Completes all required trainings.
  • Accurately documents in required forms and submits for data entry in a timely fashion.
  • Collects and prepares necessary data to complete the job in a timely fashion, including, but not limited to: program delivery reports, calendars, travel and activity reports, etc.
  • Maintains excellent working relations with SDP personnel, community site personnel, and close working relationships with Drexel University staff.
  • Conducts site visits and seeks opportunities to conduct allowable programming that meets shared goals of sites and community partners.
  • Participates in conferences, workshops and conducts professional development for teachers, nurses and principals within the SDP.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience. 
  • Utilizes Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint in all facets of the job.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable mode of transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to speak in Spanish
  • ServSafe Manager Certification

  • Typically sitting at a desk/table
  • Lifting demands > 50lbs

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade I. Compensation for this grade ranges from $41,120 to $61,680 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
