Job Summary

Theater Event Supervisors play a vital supervisorial, technical, and customer service role in the execution of all performances and events at Drexel University’s Mandell Theater and URBN Annex Black Box Theater.

The hours for this position vary. Employees may work up to 40 hours per week, depending on the performance and events schedule.

Essential Functions

  • Lead teams of venue staff, comprised of student and independent part-time theatre technicians and house managers, plus volunteer ushers, and collaborating directly with teams of event staff from other Drexel units and from external event clients to execute events
  • Serve as event lead and Mandell or URBN Annex Black Box Theater representative when Technical Director and Managing Director are not present 
  • Prepare for events prior to client arrival, and overseeing load-ins and load-outs
  • Ensure client requests and expectations are met or exceeded within each theater’s resources and the scope of event agreements
  • Supervise front-of-house operations and the facility for events that may otherwise be entirely staffed by facility rental clients
  • Receive training in Adult & Pediatric Basic First Aid & CPR/AED
  • Maintain familiarity with venue health and safety protocols
  • Help direct emergency response for campus residents and patrons in case of emergency or extreme weather
  • Actively participate in all aspects of executing each event 
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED 
  • Minimum of 3 technical theatre experience, including competence in lighting, sound, and audio/visual.
  • Event production and management experience
  • Experience with live and livestreamed event logistics
  • Experience in guest services, including front of house management, box office/registration, the safety and logistics of public audiences, and related event services
  • Strong leadership, customer service, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience training student and young professional crews in the basic principles of theatrical production
  • Ability to work flexible hours which include days, evenings, and weekends

Additional Information

This is a Part-Time per diem position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
