Job Summary 

Several Research Assistants (RA) are sought to support a research study on carceral conditions and culture. This is a 12-month, renewable position.

Essential Functions 

  • Assisting in management of study records, both paper and electronic.
  • Participating in survey administration, including inside of a custodial environment.
  • Data coding and management.
  • Adhering to codes of the conduct for research, university activities and correctional institutions.

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Criminology/Criminal Justice or a related discipline.  
  • Experience with primary data collection, particularly with justice-involved populations and with conducting confidential semi-structured interviews, is beneficial but not required.
  • These skills will be advantageous in this role:
    • Training or direct experience with qualitative and/or quantitative data collection
    • Comfort with conducting engaged research with justice-involved populations, members of vulnerable populations, and agency leadership.
    • Highly organized and attentive to detail.

Additional Information 

This is a Part time Per Diem position classified as non-exempt.  The pay offered is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
