Job Summary

The Policy, Analytics, and Community Research Program at the A.J. Drexel Autism Institute (AJDAI) seeks Research Scientist. The Research Scientist will be responsible for generating impactful research products, including peer-reviewed publications, applications for funding support, and seeking collaborative research opportunities. This position will generate opportunities to explore new areas of scientific inquiry aligned with PAC’s mission. The mission of PAC is to is to utilize research methods and innovative analytic strategies to support the development of effective social and health policy in cities, states, and across the US. Essential Functions: This position requires the development and implementation of independent research and extramural funding support. The applicant is expected to have an active role in obtaining and carrying out funded research and serve as a principal investigator and a co-investigator on research and community grants, projects, and contracts. The position will provide scientific expertise and support across a broad portfolio of research projects. Research activities include development of analytic skills and methods, designing research and evaluation methodologies, and critical support to project development. Research products include scientific publications, reports, and other summary materials to lay and expert stakeholders. -

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a Principal Investigator and a Co-Investigator on research studies and community projects and contracts, and lead submissions for research grants and other funding opportunities.
  • Lead and assist in the preparation of scientific manuscripts and the dissemination of research results. 
  • Identify, build, and sustain collaborative partnerships.
  • Support the scientific needs of the PAC, including contributing to ongoing research projects. 
  • Plan and implement dissemination activities and present research at conferences and other dissemination settings for research and non-research audiences. 
  • Represent AJDAI and Drexel University at professional meetings, workshops, and other professional or community settings. 
  • Supervise and mentor staff and students.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate 
  • Minimum of 10 years of research experience
  • Commitment to population- and community-level research that empowers people and organizations to improve the quality of life for people on the autism spectrum, people with other disabilities, and their families.
  • An outstanding record of research creativity, independence, and productivity.
  • Demonstrated experience working with large datasets and collaborating successfully with research teams.
  • Expertise in advanced research methods.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise reports and presentations.
  • Demonstrated scientific stature in peer-review publications.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade N. Compensation for this grade ranges from $90,430.00 to $135,640 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
