Job Summary

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the College of Medicine is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to lead research activities focused on understanding immune responses to cancer and chronic virus infection with significant emphasis on T cell differentiation and exhaustion.

Essential Functions

This full-time position involves working both independently and in a team environment with other members of the Hope lab to conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments with preclinical mouse models and primary patient samples.

  • Experimental design and execution of in vivo mouse models of cancer and infection including ex vivo analysis of immune cell responses.
  • Experimental design and execution of in vitro experiments with mouse and human primary cells.
  • Support general laboratory operations.
  • Perform general duties in support of safe and efficient laboratory operation.
  • Maintain excellent record keeping of all duties performed in association with the laboratory.
  • Preparation of text and figures for grants and manuscripts.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate in Immunology or related field. 
  • Minimum of a year of experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and publish research projects.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques.
  • Proficiency with standard computer programs (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Ability to maintain professional communication and interpersonal skills with all team members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with standard assays studying immune cell responses (e.g. flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry/immunocytochemistry, ELISA).
  • Previous experience with standard molecular biology techniques.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade I. Compensation for this grade ranges from $41120 to  $ 61680 Per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
