Job Summary 

The School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems is in search of a Post-Doctoral fellow who will be working on a funded research project. The project aims to study the role of the primitive collagen, type V, in regulating the progenitor cell chondrogenesis in vivo and in vitro, and to test the therapeutic potential of using collagen V for improving the regeneration of the hybrid of fibro- and hyaline cartilage matrix in temporomandibular joint.

Essential Functions 

  • Lead the experiments on AFM-based nanomechanics tools, advanced multiscale imagingmechanobiology analysis and conditional mouse model development.
  • Make sure the deliverables are met timely, and prepare and submit progress reports.
  • Determine the required materials for the project and process the purchasing following Drexel's procurement process.
  • Attend regular lab meetings, and mentor graduate students during the project.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Other requirements

  • Experience with mouse handling, cell culture, histology/immunohistochemistry and mechanobiological assays is a plus.

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate
  • Biomedical Engineering, Biosciences, or a related field
  • Experience not required.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Creative, highly motivated individuals with a PhD a relevant area (cartilage biology/mechanobiology or musculoskeletal bioengineering or related disciplines), are encouraged to apply.

Physical Requirements 

  • Typically sitting at a desk/table.
  • Typically standing, walking.
  • Lifting demands up to 25lbs.

Additional Information 

This position is classified as exempt grade l. Compensation for this grade ranges from $41,120 to $61,680 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
