HRIS Analyst

Job Summary

The HRIS Analyst is responsible for the analysis, entry, and upload processes of employment data into Banner, ensuring accuracy of data and reconciliation of information, as well as responding to inquiries from employees and departmental personnel. This position serves as a primary point-of-contact and assists subject matter experts with ensuring data integrity and analyzing data flows for process improvement opportunities.

Essential Functions

Data Management:

  • Act as a gatekeeper to ensure all information entering the Banner HR system has been validated and accurate.
  • Evaluate, enter, and/or apply all transaction types into Banner system timely and with accuracy; audit and reconcile error reports from transaction entry; Ensure compliance with internal and external policies.
  • Work closely with end users and Payroll personnel to ensure accuracy and timely payroll processing.
  • Review, validate and process all documents (electronic and paper) that initiate and support any action impacting the hire and/or employment actions of staff, faculty, volunteers, and student workers.
  • Audit and manipulate data within the Banner System by running standing and ad-hoc reports.
  • Responsible for testing system functionality for upgrades and enhancements.

Position Management and Labor Funding:

  • Create, update and audit position budgets for all staff, faculty, and student employees.
  • Respond to inquiries connected with salary budgets and expenditures.
  • Reconcile salary and fringe budgets for position control.

Community and Department Interaction:

  • Resolve Human Resources Information Systems inquiries as well as inquiries from department administrators.
  • Train internal/external clients on new processes and functionality as well as educate them on best practices and system updates.
  • Coordinate with Information Technology team to resolve HR system matters/concerns.
  • Consult with subject matter experts to ensure validity of information.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
  • 3 years HRIS system experience or relevant experience
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to prioritize and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks concurrently to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and data management.
  • Strong knowledge of HRIS/HCM, and Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to interface with all levels of staff including administration, faculty, professional staff, and students.
  • Sound judgment and ability to deal effectively with matters of a highly visible and confidential nature.
  • High degree of professionalism, initiative, integrity, urgency, and motivation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain constructive, effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to organize heavy workload with ability to pivot between priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Higher Education strongly preferred.
  • Experience using Banner HR software strongly preferred.

This position is classified as exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490.00 to $71,230.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
