Job Summary 

Part-time or Full-time temporary position (3-6 month) as instructor for a large teaching program in the Department of Biology at Drexel University. Position will directly staff undergraduate teaching laboratories and recitations to instruct undergraduate students in a number of introductory courses. This involves working with teaching faculty and staff laboratory technicians to assist with development of lab protocols and educational materials. The instructor will employ a variety of strategies to enhance student learning in biology. Instructors will encourage active learning in all students, maintain proper course-related records, and evaluate student work and provide feedback. Each Instructor is responsible for effectively teaching students in the assigned classroom and/or laboratory settings. Each instructor is responsible for effectively implementing the mission of the Department of Biology. Responsibilities may include teaching days or evenings, with the potential for online, in-person, or a combination of both. This position reports directly to the Assistant Department Head. Perform other similar duties as assigned.

Essential Functions 

  • Deliver and assist in the teaching of undergraduate biology laboratory or recitation sections.
  • Work with teaching faculty and other staff for development of lab protocols and educational materials.
  • For lab instructors, duties include preparation of reagents and materials for the lab and help overseeing lab safety and clean-up of teaching labs.
  • Schedule administrative time for classroom and laboratory preparation.

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 3 months of experience.
