Job Summary

This is a full-time, year-round Counseling Center Staff position. This position will provide culturally informed direct client care to students at Drexel University, a large (25,000 pop) private institution located in Philadelphia, PA. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated interest in working with late adolescents and young adults as well as interest in developing and providing outreach initiatives to students, faculty, and staff. Position may provide virtual therapy services. Participate in general Student Affairs functions as a member of an Office within Enrollment Management and Student Success (EMSS). 

Essential Functions

  • Provide culturally informed individual counseling, group therapy, initial assessments, outreach, crisis intervention, and referral services to students.
  • Demonstrate commitment, skill and experience in diversity and inclusion programming and clinical expertise in working with traditionally underserved or marginalized populations.
  • Provide training around outreach process to the interns in the APA accredited internship program and Master’s/Doctoral level externs.
  • Oversee and coordinate Counseling Center outreach efforts from a social justice frame.
  • Serve as facilitator of improvements for group and workshop program and lead discussions of group during meetings and evaluating with staff members the strengths and weakness of groups.
  • Provide consultation to faculty, staff, and administration regarding students.
  • Facilitate psycho-educational groups, support groups, and conduct workshops on mental health-related topics.
  • Provide supervision to trainees as needed
  • Maintain APA professional ethics in all areas.
  • Participate in weekly clinical supervision.
  • Attend Counseling Center Staff meetings; divisional meetings as needed.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by Executive Director.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
  • Minimum of 1 of post-doctoral experience providing individual and/group counseling.
  • Pennsylvania Licensed or license eligible within 3 months of employment.
  • Experience providing personal counseling, crisis intervention, assessment and consultation to late adolescent/ early adult population and non-traditional students.
  • Experience working with individuals with multiple marginalized intersecting identities, international students, veterans.
  • Experience providing culturally informed counseling, crisis intervention and consultation.
  • Ability to work 1 to 2 evenings (until 7pm) per week.
  • Ability to work weekends a couple times a year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a college campus/counseling center.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade L. Compensation for this grade ranges from $62,630 - $93,950 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
