Job Summary

Drexel University's School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems (The School) is looking for an Adjunct Faculty to teach various Biomedical Engineering courses, which will be offered in the Summer quarters. The School’s undergraduate students have the highest average SAT scores and the highest percentage of students in Honors College. The School is uniquely situated as an independent School, which is one of its kind. Drexel University and Biomed have a strong history of research in neuroengineering, tissue engineering, biomaterials, biomechanics, device development and bioinformatics. Emerging cross-disciplinary areas of development include immunoengineering, gene therapy, neurotechnology, biomedical additive manufacturing and pediatric bioengineering. There is strong support for medical technology commercialization through the endowed Coulter Drexel Translational Research Partnership Program. The School enjoys outstanding collaborations with the other colleges and schools at Drexel, including the College of Engineering, the College of Medicine, the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the School of Public Health, and the College of Arts and Sciences. The School’s faculty have also developed an extensive collaboration network with other regional institutions including the University of Pennsylvania, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Thomas Jefferson Medical School, Temple University.

Essential Functions

  • Preparing all materials for the course and/or lab
  • Teaching the course and supervising students in the lab
  • Grading homeworks and exams
  • Making yourself available to students
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of course records to justify the grades submitted
  • Any other duties as assigned by the department head or program director

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Life Sciences
  • 1 + years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated competence with required knowledge and skill of assigned content area
  • Strong interpersonal skills and positive energy regarding biomedical engineering education
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other faculty members, as well as students.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills including sending/receiving email; researching topics via the web; attaching, sending and opening documents; participation in chats; function in library databases.
