Job Summary

The Senior Director for the Raj & Kamla Gupta Governance Institute is responsible for managing the promotion, development, and operations of the Institutes’ research, programs, and initiatives.

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Institute, the Senior Director, in addition, works with the Stratakis Academic Chair, the Academic Director of the Center for Nonprofit Governance, and the Industry Chair to build and sustain positive relationships with Gupta Governance Institute stakeholders including its Advisory Board, practitioners, faculty, investors, staff and students.

The Senior Director will play a critical role in refreshing and up-leveling the Institute and meeting key strategic priorities for the LeBow College of Business including engaging industry partners, creating impactful thought leadership, and executing high-caliber programs that maximize the visibility of the Gupta Governance Institute brand to potential and existing investors, program participants, and business practitioners.

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Director to support the development and implementation of the Institute’s strategic initiatives, increase stakeholder engagement, and develop new revenue streams. The Senior Director will work with minimal supervision and be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive strategies to enhance the institute's visibility, engage with stakeholders, and promote its programs and initiatives effectively. 

Essential Functions

  • Develop and manage the implementation of a multi-channel portfolio of projects that includes existing and new strategic initiatives.
  • Be a thought partner to Executive Director on programming and content by:
    • Identifying forward-looking governance practices and topics that are aligned with and advance the Institute’s brand.
    • Researching prospective program participants including corporate and nonprofit directors, C-suite leaders, institutional investors and proxy advisors
    • Developing and soliciting content for research and thought leadership
    • Managing external partnerships and third-party vendors
  • Support the reorganization and refreshment of the GGI Advisory Board.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including academic faculty and staff, to identify revenue-generating and brand-building opportunities and ensure alignment with academic priorities, Institute mission, and stakeholder needs.
  • Support the reorganization and refreshment of the Advisory Board including the recruitment and onboarding of new members and leading working groups.
  • Oversee the planning and logistics for Institute events and content development.
  • Build and execute a marketing plan that increases brand recognition and stakeholder engagement and uniquely positions the Institute’s cutting-edge programs and publications that support issues top-of-mind in today’s boardrooms.
  • Oversee the development of the Institute’s media and digital presence, including thought leadership, website content, social media channels and campaigns, and email marketing.
  • Coordinate with LeBow and Drexel Marketing and Communications and marketing and communications teams of external partners to maximize the impact of program initiatives and optimize resources effectively.
  • Create and track effectiveness of compelling marketing campaigns and materials to promote the Institute's programs, events, and research activities.
  • Represent the Institute as a member of industry organizations and as a speaker and participant at conferences and other industry events
  • Help develop and implement fundraising strategy including development of investment cases and concept papers to socialize current and new initiatives and attract new stakeholders, Advisory Board members, external partners, and donors.
  • Partner with Alumni Relations and Institutional Advancement to identify and engage with potential donors and external partners.
  • Oversee, manage, and assign projects to Institute staff:
    • One direct report (professional staff member)
    • Research assistants
    • Co-op students and volunteers
    • Advisory Board subcommittees
  • Manage GGI and project budgets.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Proven experience (15+ years) in marketing, strategy, fundraising, program development, and content creation in a corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience.
  • Passion for and substantive knowledge of corporate and nonprofit governance, with a commitment to advancing the Institute's mission.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute programs that drive results.
  • Creative problem solver with a proactive and collaborative approach to achieving goals.
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles, strategies, and tactics including digital marketing and content creation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Executive presence and the ability to speak at the level of and in the language of CEOs and directors is essential.  
  • Organizational and project management skills; experience developing and executing high-caliber events and thought leadership.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation to measure effectiveness and ROI.

  • Master's Degree

This position is classified as exempt, grade O. Compensation for this grade ranges from $108,330 - $162, 490. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
