Suspension of Drexel University's Contribution into 403(b) Retirement Plan

As communicated on Oct. 10, Drexel University is suspending its contributions to employee retirement plans for calendar year 2025 as part of its multi-year plan to build financial resilience. Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, conducts on-site nutrition education programs in assigned Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) eligible schools in the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) and eligible community sites to school-age and adult populations. Participates in direct education, implementing lesson plans as intended which meet the overall goals and objectives of the program. Participates in school programs and committees, seeking opportunities for policy, systems, and environment (PSE) interventions with the goal of positive behavioral changes for participants. Participates in Back-to-School nights, health fairs, workshops, and allowable school and community events. Participates in evaluation activities as assigned. Utilizes Microsoft applications. Responsible for scheduling and coordination of nutrition education and PSE activities within assigned areas of responsibility. Responsible for accurate and timely documentation of activities and other reporting as required. Coordinates, supervises, trains and evaluates a team of nutrition coordinators, overseeing and guiding their work, ensuring that programming meets established requirements and reporting is done timely and accurately. Assists Assistant Director through completion of monthly reporting requirements, reviews and revises educational materials, monitors programs for quality and consistency, and provides ongoing support to nutrition coordinators. PA criminal background check, FBI Clearance, and child abuse clearance necessary. Must have access to a reliable form of transportation to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Registered Dietitian or a Masters Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or related field is preferred. Current ServSafe Manager certification a plus.

Essential Functions

  • Provides approved nutrition education and programs in schools within the SDP and in eligible community sites to school-age and adult populations. 
  • Seeks opportunities for PSE interventions in sites.
  • Participates in Back-to-School nights, health fairs, workshops and other school and community events. 
  • Schedules visits, prepares, and implements lesson plans which meet the overall goals and objectives of PA SNAP-Ed. Conducts site visits and interfaces with SDP and community site personnel. 
  • Assists in data collection and conducts evaluation activities as directed.
  • Prepare materials necessary for execution of nutrition education sessions. 
  • Supervises/Participates in the review and revision of educational materials as necessary. 
  • Utilizes Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Coordinates and conducts activities involving supervision of nutrition education for school age and adult participants.
  • Supervises, trains, supports, and evaluates nutrition coordinators on an ongoing basis.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures of Drexel University and those applicable to SPD.
  • Maintains confidentiality of Drexel and SDP records, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains security of all Drexel and SDP property.
  • Completes all the training required and ensures teams members complete their training.
  • Accurately documents programming, as required, and submits data entry in a timely fashion.
  • Collects and prepares necessary data to complete the job, including, but not limited to contact reports, site evaluations, calendars, travel and activity reports, etc
  • Supervises the timely and accurate submission of reports and projects from the assigned team of nutrition coordinators.
  • Maintains excellent working relations with SDP personnel, community site personnel, and close working relationships with Drexel University staff.
  • Participates in conferences, workshops and conducts professional development for teachers, nurses, principals, and staff within the SDP.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. 
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • ServSafe Manager’s Certification a plus

This position is classified as Exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from  $54,630 to $81,940  per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
