Suspension of Drexel University's Contribution into 403(b) Retirement Plan

As communicated on Oct. 10, Drexel University is suspending its contributions to employee retirement plans for calendar year 2025 as part of its multi-year plan to build financial resilience. Drexel is continuing to monitor the situation and will share updates as they become available for calendar year 2026.

About the College of Nursing and Health Professions and the Physician Assistant Program

The College of Nursing and Health Professions has more than a century long history of educating nurses and health professionals. Since 2002, the College has embraced the practical ingenuity of Drexel through the refinement and development of more than 25 undergraduate and graduate nursing and health professions programs characterized by the integration of learning and work through cooperative education, a culture of excellence, innovation and technology infusion, research and deep civic engagement. The College has grown to include more than 5,000 students, 200 full-time faculty and 104 staff. The College uniquely prepares clinicians to practice and lead in a rapidly changing healthcare system.

The Drexel University Physician Assistant program will maintain excellence in educating competent physician assistant students, emphasizing integrity, respect for diversity, teamwork, patient advocacy and service to the community. The Drexel University Physician Assistant Program provides graduates with a Master of Health Science degree. After successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE).

Job Summary

The adjunct faculty member will employ a variety of strategies to foster student learning and discussions, as well as encourage active learning in all students, maintain proper course-related records through Exxat program software, and evaluate student work and provide students with feedback as to the progress toward meeting the objectives of the course. Each adjunct faculty member is responsible for effectively teaching students in the assigned classroom, clinical, or laboratory settings.  Each adjunct faculty member is responsible for effectively implementing the mission of the College of Nursing and Health Professions. Responsibilities may include teaching days, evenings, nights and weekends, with the potential for online only, in-person only, or a combination of both.

Essential Functions

  • Teach required number of credit hours per semester based on their contract.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills related to the teaching of adults, teaching methodology, curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum using a written plan.
  • Plan and provide theoretical instruction and clinical or laboratory experiences that reflect an understanding of the philosophy, learning objectives, procedures, outcomes and curriculum of the Physician Assistant (PA) program and profession.
  • Evaluate student achievement of curricular objectives/outcomes related to PA knowledge and practice.
  • Schedule administrative time for classroom, laboratory, and clinical preparation.
  • Maintain communication with the Director for Clinical Education and or the Department chair regarding any course or student issues.
  • Perform other similar duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Board Certified in Area of Expertise
  • At least two years working in clinical practice in the area of specialty.
