Job Summary

The event host is responsible for facility rental coordination the day-of the event. During events, this person serves as the primary contact for the client, onsite event coordinator and liaison for 12th Street Catering on behalf of the Academy. Event rentals include, but are not limited to, corporate receptions, birthday parties, weddings and lectures. Many event rentals take place on weekends and in the evenings.

Event hosts will be prepped by the event sales team prior to each rental so they are highly aware of the timeline and prepared to work with vendors and the client on executing and ensuring a great guest experience. They will coordinate, manage and troubleshoot with the Academy’s event support staff, security and cleantech staff to ensure each event is a success . This is a customer service focused position.

Essential Functions

  • Visitor Services skills; interact with guests in a professional, courteous, and lively manner. 
  • Have accurate knowledge of the museum so that one can navigate, give tours and troubleshoot onsite. 
  • Outgoing, friendly personality.
  • Interact and actively engage with event attendees in a professional, courteous, and lively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with vendors and individuals across departments.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work with people of all ages, including small children. 
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED. 
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Available evenings and weekends.

  • Lifting demands ≤ 50lbs

Additional Information
This is a Part-Time Temporary position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
