Job Summary

Drexel University's Facilities Management Department has available FT custodian openings (40 hours per week). The qualified candidates will provide a clean and safe atmosphere for the students, faculty, staff, and guests of Drexel University.

Essential Functions

  • Collect trash and maintain receptacles in offices, classrooms, labs, dormitories, rest rooms, and public spaces.
  • Clean rest rooms, including sinks, mirrors, toilets, urinals, doors, lights, walls, and floors.
  • Clean classrooms and dormitories, including walls, floors, desks, blinds, trash receptacles, doors, whiteboards, and chalk trays. Occasionally perform high dusting and window cleaning upon direction from Supervisor.
  • Clean laboratories, including walls, floors, counters, doors, waste receptacles, window sills, blinds, and other items assigned by Supervisor.
  • Strip and wax hard-surface floors; shampoo and bonnet carpets.
  • Perform moderate to heavy lifting as needed, including snow removal and moving furniture and equipment.
  • Operate buffers, burnishers (electric), burnishers (battery), and push carts with cleaning supplies and materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma/GED OR 5 years of relevant experience.

Physical Demands

  • Typically standing, walking
  • Typically bending, crouching, stooping
  • Lifting demands ≤ 50lbs

Additional Information

This is a Full-Time Union position classified as Non-Exempt.  Benefits and compensation are based on the agreed Collective Bargaining Agreement for this position.
