Job Summary

The IT Desktop Engineer provides 3rd tier technical guidance to support staff both internally and externally; tests new OS version and acquire cross-departmental sign off on mission critical apps before releasing to organization; packages, tests and deploys new applications as needed for Windows Intel/ARM in MECM and macOS/iOS in JAMF; maintains encryption of endpoints bitlocker and filevault management via MECM, Intune, & JAMF; maintains and expands existing Knowledge Base while developing and maintaining technical documentation regarding systems supported for various readership levels; identifies user needs and independently researches procedures for accomplishing tasks, addressing both immediate and long-term technology processes, and document findings; remains informed and practiced in operating system and hardware requirements and evaluates new technologies, and provides insight into such technologies as they become accepted for use; coordinates closely with supervisor and communicates regularly with administrative staff regarding services and suggestions for implementing them.

Essential Functions

  • Act as the active IT liaison with advanced level end-users and the IT Department 
  • Provide technical guidance to external support staff in other areas 
  • Install, test, and debug software applications for image creation and deployment 
  • Take lead on 3 support to users of high-level administrative and managerial capacity and users of advanced, sensitive, and / or mission-critical level technology services 
  • Design and implement technical solutions 
  • Research and test potential project solutions 
  • New OS version testing 
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation regarding systems supported
  • Identify and mitigate project issues and risks 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of Three to five years

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from $54,630.00 to $ 81,940 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
