Job Summary

The Partnership Program at Drexel University is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) (NP/PA) who will be responsible for providing direct patient care in Drexel University’s Partnership Program located at 1427 Vine Street. This practitioner will provide independent patient evaluations for new patients as well as follow-up office visits. Clinical judgement is practiced independently within the scope of practice for a NP/PA with collaboration with physicians and other members of our multidisciplinary team regarding patient care and management issues, treatment plan, and medication ordering as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Have independently scheduled office hours with appropriate patient type
  • Provide clinical support to patients seen in the Partnership Program including assisting with patient calls, medication orders and refills, and providing patient educational sessions.
  • Perform history and physicals as needed with appropriate diagnostic tests and implementation of plan of care
  • Develop a diagnosis and management plan based on observation, physical exam, and analysis of collected data.
  • Counsel and educate patients and their family members as needed regarding evaluation and plan of treatment.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director, Clinical Director, and other personnel regarding operational issues in the clinic.
  • Document in the patient’s electronic medical record all visits including the treatment plan for each patient at each visit. Ensure timely documentation that meets compliance standards, capturing essential patient information including history, presenting issues, physical exams, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
  • Assist with triage, interviewing, and counselling of patients.
  • Formulate patient problem list including medical diagnosis, physical exam, nursing needs, and health risk.
  • Perform, order, and interpret results of laboratory and diagnostic tests. Request and utilize medical consultation when appropriate and initiate referrals based on patient needs.
  • Review diagnostic study results promptly and communicate follow-up plans to patients.
  • Address messages and inquiries through the Epic portal.
  • Provide coverage for in-basket messages as needed.
  • Provide on call coverage as assigned by Medical Director
  • Participate in quality improvement projects to enhance patient access and outcomes 
  • Maintain national board certification, state licensure, and required continuing education.
  • 80% of this role will be providing direct patient care (4 days per week) with 20% administrative time (1 day per week) 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience
  • National Board Certification as a Primary/Family Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • License to practice as an NP/NP in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience as an NP/PA in a clinical environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with diverse patient populations.
  • Experience caring for people living with HIV preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, patients, and program partners
  • Demonstrated ability to carefully set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to follow-up and follow-through with strong attention to detail
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience in PC use and mainstream software applications (i.e.,
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, or comparable MAC applications) and familiarity with an electronic medical record system.
  • Current BLS certification

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade N. Compensation for this grade ranges from $90,430 to $ 135,640.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position will vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
