The Department of Decision Sciences & Management Information Systems - Lebow College of Business
The Department of Decision Sciences & MIS is a diverse group of scholars whose expertise extends across business analytics, management information systems, operations management, and operations research. Research from the department has been published in high quality journals such as Information Systems Research, Journal of Forecasting, Journal of Marketing Analytics, Management Science, Operations Research, and Statistics and Computing. Members of the department also serve in prominent editorial roles at research journals and are generally active in academic societies.
Business Analytics is one of the strongest programmatic areas at the LeBow College of Business. Our MS degree is the largest graduate program at the college, and the undergraduate co-major in Business Analytics is also very popular. We offer a PhD in Business, which allows a specialization in Operations and Business Analytics. The majority of recent doctoral graduates from this specialization have secured research faculty positions at other academic institutions in the eastern United States. Additionally, LeBow features the Center for Business Analytics as one of four academic centers at the college. These centers serve to bridge academic research with industrial practice.
The Department of Decision Sciences & MIS at the LeBow College of Business at Drexel University is seeking qualified applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the field of Business Analytics to start in September 2022. The position is open for specialization in any area(s) of business analytics, but primary consideration will be given to applicants who work on core topics such as data modeling, analysis, or visualization, with business applications in computer vision, algorithmic bias, big data, forecasting, privacy, AI/machine learning, or NLP/text mining. The department is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of our academic community. The Department expects faculty to realize publications in academic journals of high quality, thereby actively contributing to its research mission. Instructional duties will primarily be at the graduate level, but some teaching at the undergraduate level will be required. Academic service for this position is limited, in order to allow for focus on research and teaching.
Successful applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in business analytics, applied statistics, operations research, decision sciences, or a related area by their starting date. Applicants must demonstrate potential to realize research publications in top tier journals, and ability to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels.
