Job Summary

Director of CICSP, CNHP, will be responsible for all current program activities and in collaboration with content experts, lead the development of new programing, oversee personnel and at the discretion of the Assistant Dean of Experiential Learning and innovation teach as in needed in their area of expertise .   This position is responsible for creating and supporting educational and assessment materials for all experiential learners in CICSP, creation and maintenance of a quality assurance program, facilitating training standardized patients and monitoring them for accuracy, reliability and validity, managing sophisticated audiovisual and simulation equipment required for optimal functioning of the Standardized Patient Lab (SPL), simulation and skills as well as effective communication with standardized patients, students and faculty.  In collaboration with the Assistant Dean for Experiential Learning and Innovation and the Assistant Program Manager, CICSP, responsible for all programs conducted in CICSP including the following:  

  • Collaborating with faculty and course directors to develop teaching and assessment materials for programs utilizing standardized patients and simulation.  
  • Leading the implementation, developing and overseeing a scheduling process.  
  • Generate performance reports and data analysis for all participants using the SimIQ system.  
  • Collaboratively develops financial reports and simulation center usage quarterly.  
  • Develops an annual plan with the Assistant Program Manager to provide oversight of Skills/Simulation center, including ensuring optimal condition and functioning of furnishings and technical equipment (medical equipment, supplies, computers, cameras, digital recording and simulation equipment).  
  • Leadership development and coaching for Simulation II technologists,
  • Oversight of all simulation technology and delegates appropriately to Assistant Program Manager, Sim I and Sim II technologists. Identifies and implements solutions to problems related to simulation equipment, computer hardware and software. Oversight for the development of a routine maintenance of simulation center, manikins, and equipment.  
  • Leads the design of a collaborative plan with the Assistant Program Manager technical support, set-up and breakdown of the simulation labs. Collaborates with IT and external vendors as appropriate. 
  • When needed can operate computer hardware and audio-video recording systems and simulation equipment 
  • Annual review and revision in collaboration with Assistant Dean of Experiential Learning and Innovation of the simulation center policies and procedures. 
  • Oversees and appropriately delegates the repairs and maintains equipment as required or initiates repairs for equipment under warranty. Communicates with manufacturers regarding maintenance, repairs, updates and technology changes. 
  • Manages direct reports: Assistant Program Manager, and Sim II Specialists.  Completes annual evaluations, provides feedback and coaching for professional development. Ensures that all annual evaluations and University requirements are completed on an annual basis.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for planning, overseeing and evaluating lab activities including:
    • In collaboration with the Assistant Program Manager, coordination of day-to-day activities including scheduling, lab setup and breakdown.
    • Oversight of the Inventory process as needed.
    • Ongoing quality improvement in all areas related to clinical learning lab and simulation activities.
    • Develop, evaluate and update the clinical and simulation policies and procedures to ensure the safety, efficiency, uniformity and effectiveness of practices.
    • Coordinate the hiring process and appropriately delegate training, supervision evaluation
  • Establish annual goals and objectives for CICSP development and improvement that support the undergraduate and graduate programs and enhance student learning.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with all academic departments in CNHP to support the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs of the College with lab initiatives.
  • Remain up to date on current and emerging technologies related to CICSP use.
  • Compile, maintain and report monthly, quarterly and annual program statistics as assigned.
  • Analyze trends in the academic programs use of the CICSP, identifying issues and develop and recommend solutions.
  • Faculty responsibilities: at the discretion of the Assistant teach as assigned in area of expertise
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a Healthcare Field
  • 4+ Years of Experience
  • Community Health Officers (CHOS) and/or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) required

  • Excellent written and oral communications, organization and training skills
  • Ability to coordinate and assess project priorities and procedures; direct the activities of and supervise professional and student staff
