Job Summary

Under the division of University Marketing & Communications, Marketing Communications creates proactive, innovative, and comprehensive marketing, communications and branding strategies that highlight Drexel’s academic strengths and research, while emphasizing the value and potential of the experiential education model. The Office of Marketing Communications works closely with colleges, schools, and academic and administrative staff throughout the University to create comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that serve the University’s overarching branding, recruitment and retention goals to meet or exceed the enrollment and revenue objectives. The Office of Marketing Communications defines, protects, and disseminates the Drexel University brand while clearly illustrating its unique value proposition.

The Office of Marketing Communications seeks an analytical and detail-oriented Content Manager to contribute to the User Experience team by implementing a seamless online experience across multiple communication channels, including web, email, and SMS. The Content Manager should be skilled at editing and proofreading content and have excellent written and oral communication skills. This role must be able to collaborate with designers, writers, developers, project managers, and stakeholders who may have varying degrees of understanding about how digital media supports their communication needs. The Content Manager also provides guidance for digital communication strategies and reports on campaign effectiveness and emerging content strategy trends through formal recommendations to stakeholders and internal staff.

Essential Functions

  • Supportive responsibility for the development and maintenance for a high volume of complex recruitment and retention marketing materials for all areas of Drexel University’s digital footprint, with a focus on content and communications in the University’s CMS and CRM systems. This includes quality assurance and testing of these communications.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, designers, writers, developers, strategists, and project managers within UMAC, as well as with other teams at the University, and freelance and vendor support to produce project deliverables.
  • Track and regularly report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. Develop and present recommendations based on marketing campaign testing and analytics.
  • Audit, write, edit, and proofread content for marketing materials, including the website, email, and SMS.
  • Maintain documentation and editorial calendars, including a comprehensive list of all communications, including delivery method, timeline, link to drafts, accompanying forms, etc.
  • Audit and maintain content used by artificial intelligence tools and evaluate messaging generated by the tools to ensure responses are accurate and on-brand.
  • Research, present, and implement the latest trends in marketing, campaign testing techniques, and developments in the Higher Education field.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communications, Marketing, or related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in digital marketing or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with email and SMS campaign management including   setting up campaigns, A/B testing, quality assurance, and deploying campaigns in an enterprise-level ESP or CRM. Experience with Slate or Salesforce strongly desired.
  • Expertise with marketing automation and leveraging artificial intelligence to streamline processes.
  • Familiar with marketing KPIs (open rates, click rates, etc.) and analysis, including using Google Analytics.
  • Past success working on multiple projects simultaneously with tight deadlines.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (especially Dreamweaver and Photoshop) is required for graphics creation and HTML/ CSS editing, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with content management systems (CMS), Sitecore experience preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with experience editing and proofreading.
  • Ability to work well in a high-performance team environment under deadline pressure, and good interpersonal skills. Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and after-hours.

Additional Information

This position is classified as exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from $54,630 to $81,940 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
