Job Summary

Reporting to the Physician Assistant Program Director and in conjunction with principal and instructional faculty, this position will provide the effective development, implementation, and assessment of the curriculum in accordance with the University and Program missions and goals and in compliance with ARC-PA standards.

Essential Functions

Principal Faculty Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, and revise the Program’s mission statement and goals.
  • Participate in the interview process and the selection of candidates for admission.
  • Provide student instruction.
  • Design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate curriculum. 
  • Recruit, orient, and schedule appropriate internal and external lecturers to deliver course material.
  • Orient students and instructional faculty to the curriculum, expected outcomes, and policies and procedures.
  • Develop, administer, grade, and validate student assessments.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance.
  • Identify students at risk and make appropriate, timely referral to supportive services.
  • Mentor and provide academic counseling to students.
  • Design, monitor, and assess remedial instruction when indicated.
  • Support program efforts in the procurement and maintenance of clinical sites.
  • Assist in the recruitment of Program faculty and staff as needed.
  • Participate in Committee meetings at the programmatic and University level.
  • Attend conferences and designated programs pertinent to physician assistant education and clinical practice.
  • Utilize release time to pursue clinical practice, professional development, service, and scholarly activities.
  • Actively contribute to the Program’s ongoing assessment process. 
  • Other related duties as assigned. Notification: Principal faculty, the program director, and the medical director must not participate as health care providers for students in the program, except in an emergency situation. 

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in accredited physician assistant program or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. 
  • Minimum of two years of clinical practice is required
  • Current NCCPA certification and licensure
  • Developed organizational and leadership skills
  • Adept interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team environment

  • • Ability to network with outside organizations and facilities
    • Commitment to interprofessional education
    • Ability to travel

This is a full-time Faculty position classified as Exempt. The salary offered is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
