Job Summary

The Talent Acquisition Consultant will partner with departments and academic units to develop, implement, and measure strategic recruitment plans, enforcing HR processes and procedures and make recommendations to improve efficiency, effectiveness and alignment with the university policies, goals, and deliverables. The recruitment efforts will be achieved through the development of local and national recruiting plans, employing traditional sourcing strategies and resources, as well as developing new, creative recruiting methods. The Consultant will play a critical role in ensuring Drexel is hiring the best and most qualified talent by using fair and equitable hiring practices. The successful Consultant will have strong client service, project management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. In addition, they will enjoy a fast-paced, dynamic culture that includes a collaborative work style.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute full cycle recruitment solutions focusing on vacant and high turnover positions within client groups. Actively participate in initial applicant reviews, screening, interview process, and candidate follow-up to create a positive candidate experience.
  • Provide quality customer service in high volume searches with timely turnaround.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for all job categories (professional staff, faculty, adjunct, temporary/per diem/casual), internal and external candidates, and external staffing agencies. Efficiently and effectively assist with filling open positions, with reasonable timeframe to fill.
  • Partner with hiring managers/supervisors and search committees to lead the creation of a recruitment and advertising plan for each open position. Assist hiring manager with drafting pre-screening and interview questions, writing response letters, and performing reference checks.
  • Develop and implement appropriate sourcing strategies, post external advertisements with professional organizations and other position appropriate venues while adhering to inclusive initiatives. Utilize social media and professional networking sites to identify and source candidates.
  • Conduct regular follow-up with supervisors and search committees to establish rapport and to determine the effectiveness of recruitment plans and customize strategies based on department need.
  • Review and edit job descriptions to ensure consistency within client areas as well as throughout the University.
  • Initiate, manage, and participate in creating presentations for recruitment best practices, updating hiring guides, and training clients on the applicant tracking system.
  • Coordinate and implement recruiting initiatives, concentrating on diversity, compliance, and employment law.
  • Develop a full understanding of pre-employment processes, cross-functioning into other HR functions such as Benefits, Compensation, HRIS, HR Compliance, etc.
  • Take lead on the offer process for new hires – discuss verbal offers, negotiate counter-offers on behalf of the finalist and the hiring department, issue offer letters, and initiate pre-employment requirements.
  • Partner with the Tax Office and the Office of International Students & Scholar Services (ISSS) on the hiring of foreign nationals and external consultants to ensure compliance with all applicable federal laws and Drexel University policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of talent acquisition or recruitment experience
  • Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing recruitment plans and leading interview processes
  • Creativity in networking and sourcing applicants
  • Excellent customer support skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships, including all levels of management
  • Must be able to report to campus as needed, for in-person client meetings
  • Ability to deal with rapid change and ambiguity
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior labor relations experience highly desirable
  • SHRM or PHR certification preferred
  • Proficiency with applicant tracking systems preferred
  • A combination of working in a recruitment firm as well as corporate environment preferred
  • Previous experience in higher education is a plus

    • This position is mostly remote but occasional meetings on-campus may be required - University City, Philadelphia, PA

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from $ 54,630.00 to $ 81,940.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
