Job Summary

The web content writer is responsible for writing, editing, proofreading, and posting content onto the College of Medicine's website. The web content writer also manages the social media channels for the College of Medicine, creating unique content for the audiences and monitoring all posts by the public to our channels. The position assists in developing long-term and day-to-day content strategies to drive targeted website traffic.

Essential Functions

  • Daily posting of content to social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) for College of Medicine 
  • Ensure that the content written conveys the desired branding and messaging for the organization to uphold the reputation of the College 
  • Create, develop, manage and post web content for the College of Medicine website, while meeting current Search Engine Optimization (SEO) standards
  • Creation of editorial calendars with the web and marketing team to develop strategies to drive traffic/conversions
  • Conduct interviews with faculty, students and staff to write features and news stories that attract traffic to the College's website 
  • Compose interview questions for web videos 
  • Use web analytics to guide changes to create enhanced user experience online 
  • Facilitate meetings with faculty and staff to elicit information and set focus/priorities for content owners 
  • Build consensus on content projects and work across departmental teams 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Communications/Journalism or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years
  • CMS experience, Sitecore knowledge a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of public relations, technical writing and editing online publications
  • Health care and/or scientific writing experience
  • Working knowledge of principles and processes of web design
  • Samples of web writing that demonstrates work experience required
  • Project management skills
  • Interviewing experience
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex information for websites and print publications

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade J Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 to $71,230 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
