Suspension of Drexel University's Contribution into 403(b) Retirement Plan

As communicated on Oct. 10, Drexel University is suspending its contributions to employee retirement plans for calendar year 2025 as part of its multi-year plan to build financial resilience. Job Summary

Under the newly minted division of University Marketing & Communications, Marketing Communications creates proactive, innovative, and comprehensive marketing, communications and branding strategies that highlight Drexel’s academic strengths and research, while emphasizing the value and potential of the experiential education model. Marketing Communications works closely with colleges, schools, academic and administrative staff throughout the University to create comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that serve the University’s overarching branding, recruitment and retention goals to meet or exceed the enrollment and revenue objectives. Marketing Communications defines, protects, and disseminates the Drexel University brand while clearly illustrating its unique value proposition.

The Director of Web Strategy is a key leadership role within Marketing Communications, responsible for driving the University’s website-focused digital strategy, managing centralized web governance, and ensuring the successful implementation of projects supporting the University's web community. This role will place a significant emphasis User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to guarantee high-quality, accessible, and user-centered web experiences that align with institutional priorities.

Working as a strategic bridge between Marketing, University Web personnel, and Drexel IT, the Director will oversee the testing and validation of web components, CMS processes, and digital content to ensure performance, functionality, and compliance with digital accessibility standards.

This is a hybrid role working primarily in-person.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees a team of two including an Instructional Designer and Web Product Coordinator ensuring collaborative workflows and clear testing protocols.
  • Lead the creation, refinement, and execution of development testing strategies, including functional, regression, and performance testing for new web components and features.
  • Oversee UAT processes to validate that delivered web products meet business requirements, user needs, and quality standards. 
  • Collaborate regularly with IT to enhance CMS components, streamline workflows, and simplify user experiences.
  • Define, coordinate, and document UAT procedures for CMS features to ensure seamless content management and user interactions.
  • Help lead governance for University-wide SEO and Google Analytics, ensuring accurate data tracking through Google Tag Manager.
  • Validate tracking implementation through rigorous testing during site launches and campaign rollouts. 
  • Campaign Performance & Event Tracking Coordinate with internal clients, web teams, and vendors to verify proper event tracking setup for marketing campaigns, ensuring all tracking elements are tested and functional prior to launch.
  • Digital Accessibility Leadership With the Digital Accessibility Coordinator oversee the University's digital accessibility initiatives in collaboration with legal counsel and IT. Help plan remediation efforts and tracking. Engage with outside vendors and assist with product administration and analytics.
  • Cross-Departmental Support Provide coverage for the Director of Web Development as needed, offering leadership for ongoing projects, especially during critical development and testing phases.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IST, Media Arts and Design, or equivalent experience or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in HTML and CSS; familiarity with JavaScript and jQuery.
  • Experience with content management systems (i.e. Sitecore, Drupal, WordPress, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining an attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively on concurrent multiple projects.
  • Ability to diplomatically communicate with clients via email and in person.
  • Experience working independently/collaboratively strategically to achieve long term goals.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required (these are pre-planned).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CMS development workflows and front-end web technologies.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics 360, Google Tag Manager, and SEO best practices.
  • Certifications or experience in QA or User Acceptance testing.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade M. Compensation for this grade ranges from $75,200 - $112,790 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
