Suspension of Drexel University's Contribution into 403(b) Retirement Plan

As communicated on Oct. 10, Drexel University is suspending its contributions to employee retirement plans for calendar year 2025 as part of its multi-year plan to build financial resilience. Job Summary

We are seeking a highly professional and experienced Executive Driver to provide reliable, safe, and efficient transportation services for the President of Drexel University and other distinguished guests. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of discretion, punctuality, and safety, with an excellent driving record. The Executive Driver will be entrusted with ensuring timely, comfortable, and secure travel, while consistently maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail. This role is critical in supporting the smooth and efficient operations of the President’s office and enhancing the experience of our leadership and guests

Essential Functions

  • Driving & Transportation:
    • Safely transport executives, guests, and staff to various destinations, ensuring punctual arrival at appointments, meetings, and events.
    • Plan, route, and navigate the most efficient travel paths, accounting for traffic, weather, and road conditions.
    • Provide a high level of discretion and professionalism while interacting with executives and passengers, maintaining confidentiality and a positive, service-oriented attitude at all times.
    • Assist in managing and coordinating travel schedules, including any changes or adjustments that arise.
  • Vehicle Maintenance & Ownership Management:
    • Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and presentable vehicle, ensuring it is in optimal condition for each trip.
    • Conduct regular inspections of the vehicle and coordinate necessary maintenance, repairs, and upkeep, ensuring minimal disruption to scheduled duties.
    • Oversee routine vehicle tasks, including fueling, oil changes, and other regular maintenance tasks.
  • Route Planning & Strategic Operations:
    • Plan and follow the most efficient routes based on traffic, weather, and road conditions to ensure timely arrivals.
    • Stay updated on local areas, traffic patterns, detours, and safest routes, making real-time decisions based on unforeseen circumstances.
    • Manage the President’s calendar, ensuring all travel arrangements align with scheduled events and appointments.
    • Provide personal assistant services, including coordinating logistics for trips and assisting with scheduling.
  • Safety & Security:
    • Ensure compliance with all road safety laws and regulations, prioritizing the safety and comfort of all passengers.
    • Maintain security regarding the business and personal matters discussed during transportation.
    • Hold valid CPR and Defensive Driving certification, ensuring a proactive approach to passenger safety and emergency readiness.
  • Administrative Support & Expense Reconciliation:
    • Assist with administrative tasks related to travel, such as scheduling, organizing travel documentation, and logistics coordination.
    • Reconcile departmental credit card charges related to vehicle maintenance, fuel, tolls, and other President-related transportation expenses, ensuring accurate tracking and timely reporting.
    • Report any incidents or accidents to management immediately, providing necessary documentation and working closely with the appropriate departments.
  • Customer Service & Professional Representation:
    • Maintain a courteous, professional demeanor at all times, representing Drexel University and the President’s office with a positive attitude.
    • Deliver exceptional customer service by anticipating needs and addressing any concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Confidentiality & Security:
    • Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters related to the President’s personal and professional affairs.
    • Ensure the security of any confidential information discussed during transportation. 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of HS Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a professional driver, preferably in an executive or VIP setting.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of local Philadelphia and surrounding areas roads, routes, calendar management and traffic patterns.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and travel demands, and work on a flexible rotating schedule and work some weekend as needed.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience driving luxury vehicles or high-end cars
  • Familiarity with basic vehicle troubleshooting
  • Multilingual
  • CPR certified
  • Defensive Driving certification
  • Possess and maintain a Confidential Security Clearance

This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $ 47,490.00 to $ 71,230.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
