Job Summary

The Multimedia Designer/Strategist is responsible for producing a wide variety of creative, high-quality videos/print and digital materials for the university and clinical websites, social media sites and other collateral to help relay the Drexel Elkins Park story to various constituencies. This person will also help to develop innovative communications strategies across multiple platforms designed to engage multiple audiences in an effort to increase the visibility of the University, its programs, and its clinical facilities (The Eye Institute, Pennsylvania Ear Institute and Speech-Language Institute), including (but not limited to) online and print publications, multimedia
advertising, multichannel marketing, and special event marketing.

Essential Functions

  • Complete all aspects of video production including conceptual storyboards including pre-, field, and post-production.
  • Design, plan, order and distribute online/print multimedia marketing, advertising and promotional materials (flyers/posters/direct mail) from concept to print ready artwork with crops and bleeds, including comprehensive media plan and biannual patient care newsletters.
  • Complete all aspects of audio production including pre-production, recording, editing, mixing/mastering, and distribution.
  • Provide photography coverage and photo retouching/manipulation for University events including faculty/staff headshots, university/clinical events, student events, etc.
  • Act as guardian of the University brand and all associated brands. 
  • Assist in the development of social media elements (e.g. graphic templates, reels, etc.) and coordinates with various constituencies for deployment of elements.
  • Work with academic programs and clinical facilities to formulate strategic and targeted communication and marketing strategies; this role drives innovation and excellence within the area of strategic communications.
  • Assist with the implementation and advertising for Drexel Elkins Park and clinical community outreach activities and events as needed, including the Looking Out for Kids charity event, health fairs, school vision programs, etc.
  • Manage the development and processing of project-related documents including but not limited to proposals, purchase orders, payments, agreements, and contracts.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Multimedia Production/Design or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in production and/or graphic/multimedia design.
  • Experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Experience in filming, video editing, lighting, and audio recording.
  • Experience leading creative and production efforts, organizational digital media efforts, and design projects.
  • Experience with a content management system(s); social media management platform(s) (i.e. Hootsuite); and email marketing platform(s) (i.e. Constant Contact).
  • Knowledge of graphic design and typesetting.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and excellent follow-through.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high energy level, self-confidence, and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and multi-task.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility with changing priorities within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
  • Ability to take initiative and work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends to support events as needed.
  • Ability to attend community events in the Greater Philadelphia area as assigned.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of major social and media platforms with ability to best tailor the appropriate creative for the most effective results.
  • Ability to determine creative solutions and design under pressure.
  • Experience in academic and/or healthcare communications.
  • Experience in higher education.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 - $71,230 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
