Suspension of Drexel University's Contribution into 403(b) Retirement Plan

As communicated on Oct. 10, Drexel University is suspending its contributions to employee retirement plans for calendar year 2025 as part of its multi-year plan to build financial resilience. Job Summary

The Department of Criminology and Justice Studies seeks a Research and Project Manager (RPM) to support the expansion of the Scandinavian Prison Project (SPP). The SPP currently focuses on the implementation and evaluation of one Nordic-inspired housing unit at a prison in the Philadelphia area. RPM will directly support the development of a plan for the expansion of the pilot intervention and research program to three new facilities. RPM will actively manage the SPP portfolio, as well as participate in field research and academic outputs, as appropriate.

This is a 1-year renewal position supported fully by external funds; therefore, the continuation of employment is contingent on receipt of those external funds.

Essential Functions

  • Manage communications and planning between study sites, in Pennsylvania and Scandinavia.
  • Management of study records, both paper and electronic.
  • Project coordination, including data collection, meetings, IRB protocols, and training sessions.
  • Communication of process and outcomes findings to academic and non-academic stakeholders.
  • Data coding and management.
  • Academic writing, for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Adhering to codes of conduct for research, university activities, and criminal justice agency partners.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of Master's Degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. 
  • Ability to analyze data and produce reports using R, STATA, or comparable statistical software.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel regionally approximately once a month.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Valid Passport.
  • Ability to travel regionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with project management and fieldwork, including data collection and management.
  • Experience with administrative databases.
  • Experience with primary data collection, particularly with vulnerable populations and conducting confidential semi-structured interviews/surveys.
  • Applied and practical understanding of Scandinavian data systems and justice system processes.
  • Training or direct experience with qualitative and/or quantitative data collection.
  • Comfort with conducting engaged research with criminal justice agency staff, members of vulnerable populations, and others.
  • Familiarity with the structure and operation of the criminal justice system in the US and Scandinavia from a theoretical and practical perspective.
  • Proficiency in at least one Scandinavian language.

This position is classified as Exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from $54,630 - $81,940. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
