Job Summary

The Recreation Coordinator will be assisting the Manager, Hafter Center in programs and operations at the Elkins Park recreational facility. This position is responsible for emphasizing recreational programs to increase participation among the Drexel and surrounding community. The Coordinator will assist in the scheduling and management of student employee payroll to assist in Hafter Center operations.

Essential Functions

  • Facility & Operations Management
    • Oversee daily operations, maintenance, and usage of recreational facilities, including the Hafter Center.
    • Manage annual maintenance plans, service contracts, and equipment upkeep; provide purchasing recommendations.
    • Supervise student Facility Supervisors responsible for opening/closing and day-to-day facility oversight.
    • Respond to emergencies and inclement weather affecting facility operations.
  • Member Engagement & Support
    • Maintain a professional presence in the Hafter Fitness Center, offering proactive assistance and guidance to users.
    • Conduct fitness assessments and floor orientations for Drexel students and members.
    • Enhance user experience through staff support and educational materials.
  • Fitness & Wellness Programming
    • Coordinate and implement diverse group exercise classes and wellness events tailored to campus interests.
    • Partner with student groups and stakeholders to develop customized fitness programming.
    • Promote offerings through creative and effective communication strategies.
  • Campus & Community Collaboration
    • Work with Student Life, campus departments, and the Hafter Center Manager to deliver engaging events and intramural programs.
    • Foster inclusive programming for both the Drexel and Elkins Park communities.
  • Professional Expectations & Mission Alignment
    • Support the University's mission through collaborative departmental efforts.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet evolving departmental needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience recreation or fitness center, or related.
  • Excellent communication, organization, management, leadership and professional skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Outlook, products.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of a goal-oriented team.
  • Ability to work evenings, early mornings, and occasional weekends. 
  • Ability to travel to Drexel's Main Campus as needed for meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's License.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade H. Compensation for this grade ranges from $35,790 - $53,680 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
