Job Summary

The Creators Studio is a music and media teaching, recording, and production space, at Drexel's Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships. The Creator's Studio Manager, reporting to the Executive Director of the Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships, will oversee all functions of the Creator's Studio including managing student employees, supporting educational programming within the studio, maintaining studio equipment, building relationships with local organizations and individual creators.

The Supervisor will also instruct users on how to use various types of software including Adobe products, while maintaining a diverse passion for all modern forms of media. The employee will also manage a schedule of Drexel students, individual creators, outside organizations (i.e. non-profits, schools, etc.) who need to use the studio, serving as a bridge between the Creators Studio and the Drexel's Music Industry Program and connecting the creator’s studio to Drexel’s experiential learning. This position will require a flexible schedule, working primarily evenings and with some weekend hours, for 20 hours per week. 

This position is grant-funded for 3 years; employment is contingent upon the continued availability of those funds.   

Essential Functions

  • Supervise and mentor students/co-ops/work-study employees in the lab.
  • Maintain a regular schedule of studio open hours.
  • Instruct users how to operate various types of software, including Adobe Creative Cloud Logic Pro, and Garage Band.
  • Manage a schedule of individual creators who need time in studio for individual projects.
  • Work with outside organizations, including non-profits and schools, who will be using the studio for instructional purposes.
  • Maintain, repair, and improve equipment including computers, microphones, keyboards and control room equipment.
  • Support educational programming within the studio.
  • Build relationships with local organizations.
  • Support Drexel student organizations for studio space booking.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in music recording studio.
  • Experience providing supervision to staff, volunteers, students, etc.
  • High-level proficiency and experience using Logic Pro, Garage Band, Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  • Experience with minor repairs of studio equipment and software.
  • Ability to work evenings (starting at 4pm), with some Saturdays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a higher education/academic environment.
  • Experience working with non-profits and/or community-based organizations.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Non-Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $22.74 - $34.11. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
