Job Summary

The Standardized Patient (SP) and Simulation Director will report to the Director of the Physician Assistant (PA) Program, Salus at Drexel University – Elkins Park Campus. The SP and Simulation Director oversees the coordination, training, and execution of standardized patient activities. Responsibilities include hiring and administrative management of the SP program at the Elkins Park campus location, as well as collaborating with PA Program faculty. The role requires on-site event coordination, expertise with AV systems, data management, and conflict resolution.
The SP and Simulation Director must demonstrate excellent communication skills and collaborate with PA and other program faculty.

 

Essential Functions

  • Recruits and onboards new SPs; provides standardized training and feedback for quality control of SPs; provides administrative management of SPs, including scheduling and assignment of events, and tracking and approving working hours.
  • Collaborates with educational programs at the Elkins Park Campus to coordinate, schedule, and facilitate educational activities, including SP events in the Simulation Center.
  • Reviews, updates, and develops policies and procedures in collaboration with the PA faculty.
  • Provides structured mentorship to faculty, simulation staff, and standardized patients.
  • Proactively anticipates and mitigates scheduling, technical, and supply challenges by maintaining an updated inventory and scheduling log.
  • Leads and delegates tasks effectively for summative and formative SP and simulation events.
  • Collaborates with faculty, attends planning meetings, and is the primary contact on the day of events for troubleshooting and problem-solving. 
  • Serves as an embedded standardized participant in simulations as needed.
  • Implements the Association of Standardized Patient Educators' best practices into simulation activities.
  • Other duties as Assigned 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in relevant field preferred or current Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist certification 
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in clinical skills labs, simulation labs, or healthcare environments
  • Models and reinforces best practice communication strategies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to use appropriate communication tools and technologies effectively.
  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse range of individuals at various organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking, and team-building skills.
  • Commitment to integrity, professionalism, and maintaining high standards.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines successfully.
  • Experience in identifying, analyzing, and resolving both basic and advanced simulation-related issues.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of simulation services and applications (advanced training will be provided as needed).
  • Familiarity with business planning, budgeting, and operational modeling is a plus.
  • Experience with simulation mannequins and simulation software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SimulationIQ is preferred

Additional Information

This is a Part-Time temporary position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
