Job Summary

The Patient Service Representative will provide quality and consistent service to patients in the practices or calling in to schedule medical appointments and coordinate procedures. 

Essential Functions

  • Schedule patients accurately and completely and offer appointment alternatives when needed.
  • Accurately gather patient demographics, insurance and/or financial information to establish patient's account, financial and billing data for the purpose of expediting third party billing and collection self-pay balances.
  • Promptly and courteously answer phone calls through a multi-line phone system.
  • Manage interaction from the customer's point of view.
  • Ensure and respect patient/family and customer confidentiality.
  • Make necessary interactions to accommodate the diverse needs of patients, families and customers. 
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned, including new patient packets, scanning, updating, and registering all prior patient records. 
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED and 1 year of related experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in PC use and applications such as MS Office Word and Outlook; data entry.
  • Working knowledge of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent listening and organization skills.
  • Ability to work with others in a close manner; teamwork is essential.
  • Ability to adapt to change and meet unexpected needs and demands.
  • Ability to be accountable, dependable, independent, motivated, punctual, reliable and flexible.
  • Excellent work ethics; ability to maintain honesty, confidentiality and integrity.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Non-Exempt, grade G. Compensation for this grade ranges from $15.58 - $23.37 per hour. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
